Ask Mrs Hydey nicely and she'll read them for you.

Sometimes the text book English I was taught as a kid in school just doesn't cut it...

Fear not, sometimes he baffles even us, and we have a better command of the language than he does.

0485 265337. There's a phone number for her to read out so you'll think she's reading the Yellow Pages to you.

Actually, one of the series I wrote was sold in your part of the world. It was called "Good Guys Bad Guys" here. It was probably translated into an equivalent title for your market.

First series I ever wrote. Many, many years ago.

                        • Synopsis of the first episode, Twenty Six Hours, of Matlock Police:

Matlock's town matriarch, Grace Falconer, is brutally attacked and robbed. Suspects include a group of hippies who become involved in town affairs when a local girl's horse is shot, two yobbos on a hunting trip who are found trespassing, and a handyman recently sacked by Mrs. Falconer - who refuses to account for his movements on the night in question.

The above begs a couple of questions:

                          i) Whatever happened to the hippies?

ii) What's a yobbo (sorry, text book English syndrome again)?

                          iii) Who did it?

                          • Synopsis of the first period (pilote), Only the Young Die Good (1), of Good Guys Bad Guys:

When his stepfather receives death threats and the police are unwilling to do anything, ex-cop Elvis Maginnis must get involved.

Shorter, harder... The flowering 70s have given place to the colder second half of the 90s...

Good grief. The internet has much to answer for. That was the first episode made way back in 1970. I didn't start writing for the series till 1974. A "yobbo" is, um, an uneducated, uncouth individual. The word "hoon" is probably a similie.
