  • Then, I'm lucky I used your full name in the request instead of just CW. I'll remember that for the future.

        • Actually this one wasn't as bad as the last one. If you read through it there is considerable disccusion of the game.

              • Hmmm, back on to a real topic.
I found this cruising another forum and I didn't know this.

In SP mode and in Multiplayer/Hotseat mode orders works normally (for example Settler/Engineer work lasts as described in Info: Settlers-Engineers (GL) ). But in Multiplayer/Internet mode every order to a unit is executed 2 times.

This has effect to fortifying and Settler/Engineer work:
Fortifying don't last 2 turns, but only 1 (i.e. it works immediately); Settler cumulates 2 'works' the turn the order is given (but next turns it adds only 1 'work' to his cumulated 'work'):
For example grassland is reforested in 10 turns normally. But in MP mode this is done in 9 turns if you give the order and let the Settler work without wakening (first turn 2 'works' are made, then 1 'work' is added every turn). And the same work is done in 5 turns if the Settler is wakened and reordered every turn.
Was everyone else aware of this?
And then the inevitable question, Is it a cheat, or just something to exploit.

                • I was, I think they build it into MP to speed up roadbuilding.

And yeah, just something to exploit.

                  • I knew it worked on the first turn but didn't realize you had to wake them to get double production every turn.

                    • I usualy forget to wake them anyway, besides, the only reason I usualy mine is when I build a city on a hill or mountain.
(And yes, I did wake up a set mining a city once )

                      • Cheat or not, how much longer would it take for people to wake all their settlers every turn and reissue orders?

                        • Wow, learn something new… didn't think about the ramifications. Reminds me of Civ1 when waking could be done as many times as necessary to complete a task.

                            • This is new to me...........waking and reordering is always beneficial then?

                              Strange.

                              • I doubt it would add much time in our games. You rarely have more than a handful doing improvements. I'm willing to go along with the group on this one. Even if we dissallow it, people using two settlers on a single road through tough terrain would benefit.

And of course it brings up the infamous XIN transform a mountain in one turn trick. Would that be considered a cheat too?

                                Let's hear more opinions.
