Because it sucks? I tried it once, without luck. Besides, as far as I could see it included all kinds of superfluous files. Looks like an amateur job to me ( sorry Cedric).

Before installing it, I copied my entire Civ2 directory to Civ2MGE, then applied the patch to that, so I would always would have both. Anyway, that also allowed me to remove it again, just by removing the newly made dir again.

Which patch are you talking about Mercator, mine or JB's? If you used my.exe it should have removed all unnecessary files. If on the other hand you used the zips then the unnused files would remain. If you are talking about JB's patch, well you can't be because there are no superfluous files in there. I have heard of multiple problems with my patch but have yet to experience them....

The Gigaworld map is quite popular and while not perfect is quite fun and I did know that he (JB) had borrowed someone else's map for the streching, just didn't remember who. Sure enough It is an extended and modified version of the map Jworld by Mercator Anyway I like the map and find it very fun to play on.

yah despite giving the ai more room to expand, i found them to have expanded less..... i got off to a good start against the ai and had 28 cities to 6 another ai had (they were second largest)

needless to say i wiped them all off the map in no time...

i thought this map was supposed to discourage small empires

i played another game of ics today and found the resources were too far apart to get quick growth, got HG in 650BC but had only just got trade shortly before that...

Ras, to speed up the building of the Gardens have you considered running horses, warriors or diplos into the wonder city from your other core cities and disbanding them? This normally trims a few centuries off your Gardens date - Ming refers to this as 'poor man's caravans'.

I used your zips. I´m downloading the exe right now. The only reason I really want it is because its MapEditor can handle gigamaps. I don´t intend to play multiplayer, and if I do once upon a time, I´ll probably use my legal copy of ToT instead, even though that doesn´t seem to be very popular.

The map´s OK, fairly accurate, but the used projection isn´t quite optimal for civ2, even though it distorts the surface area less than, say Mercator´s projection. Since it´s (sort of) my map, I´m allowed to criticise it a little more.
But I´m glad you like it

OK, I have no idea why I did that, I just had to.
