  • Taxes set as they are we have a 650(,000) Surplus and we finish researching a new technology every four turns. This doesnt include revenue from trade convoys. I think we are fine financially for now. Just make sure you pillage expensive improvements in any cities you capture and we should be fine

    • As already discussed in an other thread, we should start building the electrification wonder in Moscow and rush buy it next turn with the money we get from selling powerplants. This gives us two advantages: cities without powerplants until now get a production boost and we have to pay less upkeep for improvements, thus making the surplus larger. This will help to pay for more tanks and fighters and other equipment for our glorious army!

Actually Shaka if you look at the players notes, it specifically tells you not to do this. Something about if your research falls to less than a tech every 5 turns it will screw up some events in the late game that gives you better units! So we should not drop below a tech every five turns. (in other words the greatest amount of time we can set research to is 5 turns.)

It is tempting to do so! I was tempted more than once in a single player game!

Dont power plants and Hydro dams do the same thing? And I think you get the 50% boost from one and not both is that not correct?

Pinkygenovitch I think I just found another topic for you to research. (its more of an armamnets thing but with your boss being back you have some free time now! Thanks!

As far as I know it is correct (but I could be wrong). They both give the same 50% increase in production, but hydro-electric dam produces less waste. Also, you only get the 50% extra ones (so not 50% extra with every powerplant)

I didn't know we were supposed to research a tech at least every five turns. Does it make a big difference if the research speed is slower? I have set it slower in my game What will I not get later in the game?

              • Yep Power Plants and Hydro-electric damns are mutually exclusive, and both increase production from Steel Mills by 50%. So we should sell all Power Plants and Hydro-electric Damns. If possible, it would be best to sell them off the turn after it is rushbought would it not? So that we do not take a 1 turn production hit, we would need alot of cash to do this though. The 2/3 convoys arriving this turn should help.

Bossy this is right out of the players notes, I quote:

"Late in the game, when all Soviet technologies have been researched, it may seem tempting to lower the research spending and sell the research improvements, but this may result in some game problems. In order to "upgrade units" the Soviet Armement Industry (Leonardo's) must be triggered by the discovery of a new technology (Even a future technology). If the upgrades do not occur regularly, some slots may not become available when they are needed and the game may malfunction or give incorrect units to one of the Civs. Therefore I recommend never letting the research rate drop below 1 discovery every 5 turns. "

                  • Assuming something is disbanded in Moscow, we can rush rural electrification for around 1500 rubles. With the trade convoy from the UK coming in, this would be around half of the treasury. I am not even counting the fact we will be selling large amounts of sewers and marketplaces this turn as well.

Of course, the money could go elsewhere, but I think this wonder should be a priority, and we will have leftovers to spend.

Also, we have some ammunition plant somewhere, I haven't been able to find it yet. but when the wonder is built, that needs to go as well.

                    • Assistant Economic Ministers Report for July 1942 :

(note this may be editted, but I want people like Greeny and front commanders to be able to read this now, since I believe we need their concurrence to scrap items in their respective areas)

                      1. Recommend we scrap all six sewer systems for rubles. Sewers are in Moscow, Leningrad, Stalingrad, Sevastpol, Voreneh, and Sverdelosk.

                      2. Recommend we scrap all the marketplaces in the following list.
                      Zlatoust
                      Krasnovishersk
                      Novyy Port
                      Kazanlinsk
                      Khodzheyli
                      Ashkhabad
                      Aralsk
                      Orsk
                      Perm
                      Orenberg
                      Krasnovodsk
                      Kuybyshev
                      Kazan
                      Voronezh
                      Cherepovets
                      Shevchenko

I realize the sewers and marketplaces compromise a huge list, but front commanders and armamanets minister, check if you see cities on the list, and grant your assent or disaproval.

                      3. Notes, but not recommends since this is not technically my area, that we disband a unit in Moscow and buy rural electrification so we may sell dams, powerplants, and ammunition plants next turn. We will still have leftover funds for fronts and Ural developement, and will allow more funds next turn.

                      • Under no circumstances are we selling ammunition plants. Their production boost is cumulative with that of either hydro dams or powerplants. We need all the ammunition plants we can get

Edit: Front Commanders, dont forget to post your rush-buying wishlists

Ammunition plants = Manufacturing plants. They're not made redundant by Electrification. However, Electrification does make Hydro Dams and Power Plants redundant, and we certainly should sell those.

Otherwise I concur with these recommendations.

No requests for this turn. But if those 3 convoys bring in a lot of cash, I would like a Sturmovich from Archelansk.
