Yes, we still have a long way to go till 2020, we can make it easy.

But our first comrade does have a good point with:

I have to admit that, as seldom as I go for warfare wins personally, I favor it here. Warfare *is* a lot more participitory. Planning an A/C bound economy is just not as open to discussion.
So lets go kick some ass

War is a lot more fun. The AC victory makes me feel like I'm playing SimCity.

        War is hell.
        But victory is soooo sweet.

We've got the guns and we know how to use them.
What the heck do we expect to find on AC anyway?

The planning and participation point is a good one, too. Inlight of that, I suggest a dual goal of total victory and maximal point score.

        Much fun for all...!

If we conquer the world, then we'll have to be the first ones to Alpha Centauri. See? We can have our cake and eat it too.

So, we can do both? I guess that means we could "half our cake and eat some too".

Uh, cavebear, you might want to careful with the bad puns.
Especially tasteless to supply your own laugh track. (Granted, it was needed...)

The space race would have citizen participation. The City Planner could busily poll about where to build structurals, where to build components, where to build a new factory! The Foreign Advisor could poll about map and tech trades, as well.

if you want to stop terrorism; stop participating in it

''Oh,Commissar,if we could put the potatoes in one pile, they would reach the foot of God''.But,replied the commissar,''This is the Soviet Union. There is no God''.''Thats all right'' said the worker,''There are no potatoes''

Our war machine seems to be rolling along quite nicely, so I don't see any reason to let up before everyone else is dead.

We should win by world conquest. We already have a strong military foothold, and a demo game with the goal for AC would not be as fun.

ixnay37, you've captured the essence of the situation.
Why would we give up our military superiority?
