I thought avatars needed to be gifs? I guess I just don't like the way jpg renders pictures that are supposed to have solid backgrounds and ignore jpg for avatars.

png much better than either, imo
If it saves it as png, why doesn't it accept png for avatar? I know it doesn't because I've tried to get it to accept png.
