Importance of ranking

DarkCloud has the weird goal of having the highest post count of everyone who registered after him. For now, I know that it's Chris 62 and me who keep him from achieving his goal. Add to this that Chris and DarkCloud himself don't post in on-topic as much as I do, and DarkCloud will likely be forced to chase me for a long time .

I can post 1/day and I can post 25/day... depends on the mood .

If I wanted to have more posts than those who register after me/same time would require an extreme posting fit. I am ~14,000 posts behind.

If 14,000 is the gap between you and Ming you need more than that........he is still posting lots per day.

In fact if you post 25/day (never seen any more than that over a period of time) and Ming does 10/day, you'll only close the gap at a rate of 15/day, and 14,000/15 ~ 2 and a half years.

Two and a half years I've only been here for 1.5 year and I lurked for maybe four months before that just checking to see if anyone had anything to say about civ3.

Well the rankings seem very indifferent when you are a King... then you notice that instead of being a distant dream, Emperor is within 300 posts' range... and then someone else awakens to the same fact... and you see that there're so many Kings around you blend amongst them... the ranking system receives new dimensions then

You can still see the titles in some of the old 1999 threads

Either that or no life. JK, you seem like an alright kind of guy. Must be the number of multi-post lists that you compiled.

Eh, usually only 30 minutes a day for posting... and that's what I get no life... oh well, it's true... but only 30min-60 min a day hardly constitutes obsession

And yes, the lists do add up- I managed about 15 posts today so far just on the lists
