    1. there's no issue with that. if there's one table in the sql database causing problem, it's the search index one...

    2. actually, it would open the way for the recreation of old dl's

We don't need to compete with Civfanatics on number of users, we need to compete on number of threads and posts...

      This brings us to
      61,865 threads and
      1,299,685 posts!

      CFC has
      36,166 threads and
      607,765 posts.

Of course, it's all friendly competition...

If they have nil posts anyway they couldn't have been troublesome DLs.

ha ha. why would someone want a DL? I can only think of three reasons?
EDIT: I mean, ha ha to SD's post.

            1) Cheat in a Democracy Game
            2) Kick up activity in a virtually dead forum
            3) They hate Apolyton/They hate rules

            Are there any more reasons?

All the nil posts people should be cleared out. It would probably open up some better user-names. But some of the nil-post people might just only post in the OT forum...hrm...

A lot, believe me... especially in the OTF...

DLs are created for entertainment purposes. To cause trouble without getting consequences for their main login (well, thats the plan I presume).

And DLs could have made posts in a thread that was deleted (thus removing the post from their post count) or posting in the OT forum, a post-count dead zone.

Looks like we have found the DL expert around here.

                      DrSpike,

You just have to be around here long enough to see many people caught for DLs and see why they were caught. There have been entire discussions going on among DLs in the past. There have been DLs created to get around bans for improper posts. There have been DLs created for anything you can imagine.

Hehe yes I have seen. I was just commenting on Skanky's seemingly encyclopaedic knowledge of all things disreputable.

Can't you just track the DLs IP address?

                              Not with dynamic IPs.

But there's tools for that too. So a dynamic IP number isn't a problem.
