Easy-peasey. Anyone wanting to read, or write stories goes to "Stories/Dip", reads the thread titles, thinks "What the **** is this bollocks?" and goes somewhere else.

Those who've tried to start things in the past (myself included) have seen their attempts sink like a stone under the Dip threads. That's why no-one interested in stories goes to that forum. Interestingly enough, the appeal of Dip appears to be on the wane.

The only way I see of changing this is a grand relaunch, which I could do by starting threads on all the major areas of writing all at once, which would bump just about all the Dip threads off page one and might just get some writers visiting.

Unfortunately I suspect that people would moan, and I might even get banned for doing so.

Maybe there is another reason why they drop like stones

And yeah, since the Diplo games do seem to be waning, it should be easier to keep a story thread on the first page. So why don't you try another one... and why don't you post a "promotion" thread in the OTF with a Link... I'm not going to allow a promotion thread for EVERY new story thread, but a single thread telling people where to go and ask for involvement would probably be a good thing.

Who knows, maybe interest will jump to such a point that the Diplo people will start complaining about all the story threads... And that would be the time to have another discussion about having seperate forums

              Decision time...

For those looking for this separate "NES" forum, I'm still not convinced that you cannot work within the existing "Stories/Diplomacy" (S/D) forum framework. One of the basic arguments I believe I am hearing in support of this motion is that 'well, S/D is dead'. If you feel this why, then why not work to revive it and see where it takes you?

It's okay by me, I just had to re-read the previous posts to figure out what it meant.

I just realised what Laz posted.

How do you take a forum for a walk?

If not properly exercised, you just get crap everywhere. The "Stories and Diplomacy" forum in it's current state is proof of that.

Not really... it's the way it is because people don't "push" the story threads. Give it a try. Post a thread in the OTF advertising the story threads in the Story/Diplo forum... see what happens... You won't know until you try

The only times I go into the S/D forum are when I accidentally click on it while trying to get to the community or OT forum. Usually, I quickly get confused and run away.

Since the activity has dropped off in the Story/Diplo forum, it should be easy to keep a story thread on the first page. A single OTF thread highlighting the different story threads with links should help. If there is interest, they will find them and post
