    YES CHARM.

A lot of on-topic posters visit the OT and are shocked at some of the flaming that occurs, or bored by the same-old same-old discussions. Story threads can be entertaining, (when done properly) and can get people to COME BACK. A little fresh meat always helps.

I have to questionise that too. Rah, what charm would it be?

      Anyway...

I have already proposed a separate forum for never ending stories related games as they're really off-topic in their current location in Civ3-Stories. I have talked to other N.E.S. players about having a separate and they have agreed that it would be a worthy idea as our games are now automatically seen as Civ III related because of the forum. The idea was actually Sheep's, but I brought it up a request from the N.E.S. community of Poly. Based on what we talked an what would be realistic, the proposal also includes that I would be working as the moderator of the forum as I'm nowadays playing N.E.S. games too.

My extended proposal would be a joint N.E.S. and stories forum as that could be more realistic than 2 different forums. I also volunteer as previously stated in the staff room for the moderatorship of the forum.

Oh, and one more thing. I assume none of who play games related to never ending stories (N.E.S.) would be happy if the suggestions of Ming and Rah would become the official policy, because the N.E.S. threads would immidiately become squats for carbage, unlike now when they are well organised and working.

Hopefully Sheep, Civman and Giovanni have something to add about this.

I don't want them coming back, they cause the server problems.

Uhhhh... Ras... Rah and I have never mentioned one word about N.E.S. threads... so what are you talking about. All I've done is restate the "current official policy" for NON GAME related story threads and the arguments that led to setting them in the past. This thread had absolutely nothing to do with N.E.S until you mentioned it.

I don't remember mentioning N.E.S either (still a confusing Acronym.) I was talking about real story threads.

Explain again why you cannot work within the existing "Stories & Diplomacy" forum for the purpose in question?

Just for the record, the terms "Stories" and "Diplomacy" can be mutually exclusive. Just make sure that they are relevant to the on-topic forum discussions on the site.

I suppose now that I've said this you'll want the forum renamed "Stories and/or Diplomacy"...

Did I ever claim that you would have talked about never ending stories? Nope.

I mentioned N.E.S. as I suggested a joint a forum for stories and never ending stories as they're linked together. I gave some background information what had previously happened and stated this new suggestion. Where should I have done that then? Start a new thread? It was perfectly legitimate to suggest it here as a part of the discussion. Now if you excuse me, but isn't that overreacting?

In the case you want to continue to argue about this, feel free to discuss it by PM.

Then explain the above away... How does anything that we are talking about in this thread have to do with "NES threads immidiately becoming squats for cabage."

Nobody suggests moving NES threads to the Story/Diplomacy, OTF, or misc games forums... Especially since this thread has absolutely NOTHING to do with NES story threads until you posted. So what suggestions did I or Rah make that has absolutely ANYTHING to do with your NES story threads... Please explain that.

And by the way, since you brought it into the discussion... I just checked, and basicially, we are talking about only 5 NES threads in the Civ III Story Forum in the last 10 days... hardly enough IMHO to justify an entire forum.

While I would agree they make no sense to be in the Civ III forum, so maybe, in my opinion, they should be moved to the Misc Games Forum, since there seems to be no real reason to create a new forum for such limited activity....

Yes, and I was talking about uniting them into one single forum.

P.S. I'm not blind, even if you may think so.

As they can be counted as story threads too (that's the basic idea with never ending stories, even if played as games), they would end up too in the OTF if Rah's and your opinion would become the policy for story threads. That means N.E.S. threads would have to be in the OTF, so people would easily find them as a good place to spam or rant how pointless and dumb N.E.S. playing is.

The reason why I brought up N.E.S. games was that I suggest a joint forum for stories of all kind (including never ending stories as they don't warrant that much of a separate forum, even though this wasn't my suggestion in the first place, but I refined it to a joint forum when I saw this suggestion for a forum for stories). And yes, Rah and you aren't involved in any N.E.S. related suggestion, except for having stories in the OTF, but I haven't claimed anything else.

Uhhhh... that is only your "assumption" and a bad one at that. You are talking about something entirely DIFFERENT than the story threads that are being suggested in this thread. Yours are "game" story threads, and these that are being discussed here are NOT.

Plus, you don't seem to even understand the current policy. (and maybe you should learn what it is before trying to make comments about it)

The Story threads that we are discussing here belong in the Story/Diplomacy forum at this point in time. They were moved to there FROM the OTF. The only reason why an OCCASIONAL story thread appears in the OTF is because the starter WANTS it there, not because we moved it there. While we do allow one or two stories threads in the OTF if the thread starter wants it there, we have NEVER ever stated that they should all be moved there. So again, what the heck are you talking about.

And as far as your joint story thread idea... did you bother to read what this thread is about. People want their own story forum... not one shared with another game... and that is really what you are suggesting, that they move for one shared forum to another.

Because he does an excellent job modding the forum that he is assigned to. He is welcome to his own opinions, just like we all are. He is just still learning the difference between being a regular poster vs somebody who carries an Apolyton Staff Title
