      My pleasure
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

Are you guys seen as bigger than a normal hobby site? OR are there lots of other "Apolyton size" sites out there? Maybe AOE Heaven? They are bigger than us, right?
        well, i've found a comparison

right now, we have 295 people on the forums. pc.ign has 979

Then again, the 979 there right now out of the 600,780 total registered members is 0.16% of their members, while at apolyton,
279 out of 19,000 is 1.5% of the total members at apolyton. They really lost most of their members when their boards went pay-only.

Back in the day, we used to have 1000 users. Too bad we couldn't keep them...

How can they manage 1000 posters simultaneously in a pay=-only environment?
                  It must be chaos?
                  Or a really good forum?
                  How do they do it?

                  1000- posters... almost too many.

200 registered simultaneous and 100 guests is hard to deal with with our servers!

not really. the user tables are currently 26mb.
meanwhile, we have over 800mb of attachements on the forums
Are you sure no users got deleted at any point in Apolyton's history? I had to register when I came here to talk abou..ehm, listening to people talking about civ3 in the end of 2001, but I'm sure I've been here before (say a year earlier) when I played Civ2, and though I don't post much, I'm pretty sure I had an account with the same name as now. (to answer polls if nothing else )

Oh, yeah, I was here when CtPII was new too, didn't stay long though, it kept crashing om my computer, haven't played it since...

This may be a good time to remind ourself of the standings in the guesses of the number of logins.

                              Apolyton.

now , you did had to have an EE forum. A slight mistake on your side , me thinks.
