At least there starting to get on a roll now that Johnson is back.

Yes, I live only a couple of miles from Ming.

We lived at Newman Hall (just off the quad) freshman year. At Ilinni Towers the next year. Then Off campus after that. Granted, this was many many moons ago.

You Illinni are strange keeping track of time by the number of times you drop your pants in public.

Obviously it's been many moons since you were a freshman.

Father Duncan was in charge of Newman when we were there. I assume he's dead by now. Ask the guys you play frisbee with.

He did officiate at my parents wedding in the early 50's. (my dad lived at Newman hall, which was the main reason we were stupid enough to agree to live there)

I didn't do much homework when I lived at newman either. Which is probably why I ended up graduating from Bradley University.

Hey, I was trying to find the way to send JT a PM, and tracking his posts I fell down here...
I see that Apolytoners keep enjoying and practicing their right to applied democracy!

Ming: "... but the rules are simple. "

Libertarian: "[...if]...the pretense of rules invocation were dropped in favor of something that makes more sense"

Ming: "So what doesn't make sense?"

Ming: "Moderation here is a matter of opinion... this is a private site where the owners have the right to set their own rules"

Libertarian: "...it is sometimes a bit hard to pin down how the rules — simple in concept, but nebulous in reality — are applied here. "

ravagon: "...Most people banned/threads deleted are such for violating the spirit of the rules (well defined or not)...
The only realistic solution along those lines would be to go over the FAQ with a legal degree and basically define it out of existance...."

              FAQ
XVI) So, to be sure, what will most probably mean the disablement of my login?
              ...
Behaviour which is considered distruptive to this site.
              ...
Doing anything after an Admin or Mod tells you not to do it.
Usually, common sense is the rule of how we want things to work here.

Basically, this means that you could incur in a Mod penalties for just ANYTHING, it doesn't need to be written anywhere beforehand.
I agree that this cold be the best common sense approach.
It is a fact tho that in this case the very fact itself of writing down such tautologic rules is the greatest mockesry a site cna make of its members.

When I raise dthose observations to MarkG, he, with his praised and world-famous intellectual honesty, answered more or less "Yeah, but people know me, and they know what they can expect from me, I have always behaved with common sense, the fact that I write down rules that would legally allow me to behave like a madman if I will, does not mean that I am a madman or that I acually do or intend to behave like one".
Confirming to me that rules written like that has NO MEANING, NO SENSE and NO USE.
So, it's futile to complain about them!!!
I am happy to see that there are firm things to which one can refer to in these times of change and uncertainty

I only posted in technical threads because I thought that otheres were not entertaining, I realise I missed ou a LOT!

              In all this....
Does this mean that JT is currently BANNED?
When will he be able to access here agin and read a PM that I eventually send him???

Thanks you all again for your eventual replies (to these last question, you don't need to reply to my friendly considerations above...).
I don't exactly know what I mean by that, but I mean it (Holden Caulfield)

Yes... JT is currently banned. However, that only means he can't post in the forums. He can still view everything, and can even send or receive PM's.
