I've read the whole thread and although I am offended, I'm not going to take part in this discussion.

Also, we have to remember that this is first and foremost a gaming site, and the admin. has more important things to do than to always check on forums.

I say Albert Speer should keep his disgusting, childish name if he likes.

Personally, I find it offensive, just as I would a whole host of other names, for whatever reason they are chosen (including Mao, who is responsible for more deaths than Hitler). But if the site owners choose to treat this as a public forum, that is their privilege. I can accept that or not visit Apolyton. I choose to accept it.

The price of freedom of speech is that some speech you are exposed to may be offensive. Just about any topic or name has the potential of offending someone, somewhere. The moniker "Beefeater" could offend a vegan!

If someone's handle or posting offends you, you can either ignore it or let them know what you think. Asking Apolyton to protect us from potentially offensive things is placing too much reponsibility on Apolyton - they have better things to do.

After writing it, I realized that this isn't a public forum at all, although, the administrators treat it with most of the freedom found in a completely public forum. I agree with you completely.

Let me just say this...

Albert Speer was a convicted war criminal. He was indirectly responcible for the deaths of more than 6 million people. (If not responcible, then connected to at the least.) I understand that the admins. may believe that they have better things to do, but where does it stop? Where do you draw the line? Is it acceptable to write "Albert Speer is the bomb!!" on the Off Topic? Where is the line between 'Speer' and 'Hitler'.

I know that this is the admins. decision. All the same, I will continue to comment until this thread is closed. My beliefs demand that I do...

Hitler is on other side of the line. Speer is also, I have said it already more than once.
but the case of the specific login had it's specialness.

on a general note, I hope people understand that likewise, our dedication to providing a good site for civers, demand lots of the things that some people might have a problem with.

it never is "better things to do". it always is "more important things to do for that civer that comes here for content and civ discussion and not for OT chitchat"
