The browser is running that code each time someone views this page. If you would be so kind as to edit it out...

EDIT: It seemed to run when I put it in code tags initially. Changed all <'s to ('s to prevent that. It kept redirecting my browser.

I don't get it. You're saying that anyone who enters this thread now is having their browser redirected to the offending advertiser's Web site because I included the source information in one of my posts above?

Hmm ... I'm not being redirected anywhere. I'm missing something here, aren't I?

zonealarm from www.zonelabs.com and surfinguard from www.finjan.com are free , ......

and they tend to do a good job in keeping loads of spyware out , ......

I don't think that's exactly correct.

Some firewalls, such as Zone Alarm, not only keeps outsiders at bay but also restricts access to the Net by processes on your computer. However, they won't stop anybody or anything from installing programs on your computer.

What that means is they won't stop spyware from being installed on your machine, but they can stop them from calling home.

Win Doctor - Weekly
Defrager - Weekly

This way if I have been "got", I can find it, get rid of it, and keep my beast clean

You're wrong there, Urban Ranger. ZoneAlarm has an option to restrict code being run on your machine from websites you visit.

it depends on the version and the way one uses it , it stops 99.99 when used to its full power , .... you can also combine those two together without any problem whatsoever , .....

Actually, adware is a synonym for spyware. I believe the product you are referring to is "Ad-aware". "Adware" is the same as spyware

Erhm... adware and spyware are two different things, Frozzy. Please don't mix up these two things.

Adware is computer software which is free to the user like freeware, but in exchange the program contains some form of advertising like a banner ad which is periodically refreshed (e.g. Opera and KaZaA Media Desktop), the user has to subscribe to some services or mailing lists (advertisements or information) or the software is tailor made for some branded purpose, and is thus free for the end-user as the program itself is an advert.

Spyware is malicious piece of code or an entire program or applet, which gathers information about the users' system, what websites they visit or other such online activities that may be of interest to advertisers in general and to target more efficiently their campaigns for better profit. Spyware can either have been copied onto the hard drive with the consent of the user or hidden as a cookie.
