    • Thanks. Heres the info I have managed to pull from the history. I havent been able to recreate the gator pop-up, but I can recreate the ads that pop-up when you close it. I have clicked on every link in my history, but cant get the gator install to open.

Its possible these ads are coming from somewhere else, but that should be easy enough to check.

DO NOT CLICK ON THESE LINKS UNLESS YOU WANT POP-UPS

This is one that comes after

This one also opens when gator closes

These ones seem somehow responsible for opening the others, and they have gator in the addy

      Hope this is some help

      • DanQ,

My apologies on not checking this thread after starting it. First, I was busy for several days and didn't check 'poly much, then I just forgot about this page when the Gator ads went away the first time.

I'll have to spend more time checking the community part of the boards...

I agree with others here that the Gator ads have gone up in frequency lately, but I really haven't had that much of an issue because I know how to kill them and clean my registry (not to mention my firewall prevents the sucker from sending anything out even if I accidentally download the stupid thing).

My concern, as previously stated, is for the visitors to the site that have absolutely no idea what Gator is or that it's been downloaded to their system.

Thank you a BUNCH for working on this. Next time I spot a Gator ad, I'll see if I can check the history to find anything of use (which, since I'm using IE, is rather unlikely).

        Thanks again.

          • Maybe someone should program a product called "GatorHater" or "GaterRaid".

My firewall blocks Gator, of course but it blocks everything else, too. That is what keeps Apolyton from making money, and why I have made a pledge (to myself) to surf poly with my firewall off.

              • many thanks Snotty
unfortunatelly the info you got doesnt go back enough to one of our ad providers OR the ads are originating by some other source(other site that you browsed at the time or a gator-like application installed in your computer)

                • These are the same links I posted a month ago...

I'm pretty sure they are coming frpm 'poly, since I get them when JUST using 'poly AND straight after cleaning up with AdAware.

I doubt they're coming from one of your official ad-providers, but I imagine the Gator ad has hitched a "free ride" to 'poly somehow.

                  • Maybe contact Gator and have them help clear out the mess.

If they are as serious as they claim to be, they should be only too happy to help.

(I thought I had the link in my history, but it didn't turn out to be what I thought it was... oh well)

                      • Just got the Gator pop-up again...

URL in my IE history from the Gator download pop-up:

That looks like it's just the gator download URL and probably doesn't help you at all finding out what's making it pop up, but there you go.

That was at 1309 GMT, however, so here's the rest of the ad history I have for today:

                        www.gamblingresource.net (1026 GMT)

                        media.popuptraffic.com (1114 GMT and 1149 GMT)

                        bidclix.net (1215 GMT)

                        content.ad-flow.com (1309 GMT)
                        http://content.ad-flow.com/5/OF-INT.html

                        images.ad-flow.com (1309 GMT)
                        http://images.ad-flow.com/sam/OF-INT.html

Since the gator download pop up was at 1309 GMT, the content.ad-flow.com site is either responsible or (as seems also possible) it was just two ads popping up simultaneously.

                        Hope this helps.

                        • I always get ad-flow together with gator, so we can assumethey are related.

                          • Yeah, but I think the problem is that Mark and Dan can not link Ad Flow with a company that they have signed up with. Meaning that it is a third party ad, and they have to locate the "second party".

Allthough by the second party, I'm usually so drunk that I need to go home and sleep it off.
