You probably don't believe this...but I'm having some problems with my file. Other ones worked well so I'm not yet sure what's wrong. I'll keep you updated.

Oh, this was a SMAC game
. Funny. I got this error message saying that I lacked virtual memory. But, smart as I am, I got an idea. Why not to try the classic game?

note: has kk(yang) explained why he performed 2 extra save/loads? as i know it, it's required you post why on this thread, like any other game.
also, i've noticed no one has changed their name in the comm link. just go to the menu on the left side, go to network, and customize faction.Comment

Besides... YOU were the FIRST to KNOW about it. I e-mailed you about how frustated I was. Remember... ?
Following is the e-mail I sent to Shai- Hulud (the player I send my next turn to ) :
Hi Shai-Hulud,
There should/might be a few warnings... I forgot my
password, and attempted to open the file at several times. Out of
curiosity, let me know how many there we're.

Anyone can ask Shai-Hulud to forward his copy of the message. I was just so happy to get the turn done, that I forgot to post it at the thread.

that's odd. i thought the game only recorded the save/loads, if you've successfully loaded the game in the first place.Comment

Yeah so did I...
However, when I got my password off knowhow2, and started to load the game, a message came up saying that I had already played the turn (!). I was very surprised, since it was the FIRST TIME that I had been able to even load it ??? I'm assuming, since it wouldn't let me out of the password screen till I had hit the esc. key several times, that this was the cause. Another thing might be that, I had tried several times ( maybe 6 - 8 ) to enter a password that I thought (hoped) might be the correct one.
That's the best that I can remember.
So... again, why are you asking ? You play 5 players after Shai. Does the screen appear to everyone in turn ?This is what it means to be a Spartan. It's not the killing or the suffering that matters. It's the purity of focus, without fear of death or pain.Comment

Once you get to the password screen, the game flags that you have loaded the turn, even if you never actually open it, be it because of failing the PW requirement or because you esc out for whatever reason. Any subsequent time you get to the PW screen, the game will record a reload.
I keep a notepad file on my desktop with all my PWs. In the event I get to the PW screen and find I've forgotten it (an increasingly frequent occurrence!
) I simply hit the Windows key to the desktop, open the notepad file and refresh my memory. Saves having to explain reload messages.

good idea mongoose. i actually have an actual notepad, not the windows kind, right on my desk. became a necessity once i started joining a ton of games. i even list who i'm supposed to send the turn to as well, cuz i tend to forget those.
