Foreman Domai surveyed his workers. " We are approaching a new land. We do not yet know what or who we will find in this place. But you people work harder than any I have ever known. Through hard work and sacrifice we will prevail together to build Utopia!!!

As the cheering died, the foreman basked among the good natured comradery of his people. While confident of the work ethic of his people he had a nagging thought that his inability to recruit sufficient academics to his cause could hinder the discovery of needed technologies to cope in the as-yet-unknown land. He shrugged off the thought -- "Hard work will prevail. I know it."

Just checking in. I am hoping we can get a good turn rate(although this is my first ever MP game so the first turn should be fun LOL-- hope everything works). I can check here during the day but will play in the early morning or early evening (Eastern time). I will post here if real world stuff prevents getting the turn back out in a day or so.

And thanks to Tau ceti for setting this up. The effort is appreciated.

Alas, I have a cold, and the in-character byplay will have to await another day...

Turn 2102 (why are we starting with 2102?) on to cbn...

Am I the only one reporting turn progress?

        2102 played -- 2103 to the Cult

        ---------------

Walt, I believe that Tau has to play the first turn for every game to do set up stuff such as setting passwords. Everyone should be in the same position as Tau does nothing but necessary admin stuff.

I figured it was something like that. No worries.

Regarding the file size issues, go ahead and send me the turn in its raw form and I'll send it on.

              Turn 2103 to cbn

              ____

Morgan read the reports: corporate scouts and resettlement contractors were so far stymied by the new world's native flora. Slow progress lay ahead. He decided to have another beer...

2103 complete and sent ( not zipped) to knowhow2 and also to Walt to take advantage of his offer to zip it and send it on (hopefully I will only have to impose one time only )

Walt-it does seem that Tenchsatsu and knowhow2 are not posting messages here-- I like posting here to keep track of the turn

                ----------------------------------------------------------------

Foreman cbn contemplated the toiling masses "Already we show amazing productivity. It is unfortunate that our scientists are so slow in providing new designs but the workers seem content to produce the same products year after year"

cbn gazed at the readout outlining the the explored portions of Planet. "I wonder what dangers lurk over the horizon?"

I've received Turn 2106, but I'm working all night and won't be home until after 6 AM Central. I'll play the turn and send it on then. It's currently 21:13 CST.

                          Turn 2106 to cbn.

I sent out an email with more detail, but the gist is: we're forbidden by the tournament rules from contacting each other in game until we acquire each others comm frequencies in game.

I'm going to assume we're abiding by that unless I hear otherwise...

I also received a diplomatic offer this turn and followed Walt's example and did not respond as I am unsure as to whether the offer was due to uncertainty over the rules or some in-game contact. It is unlikely that anyone would be in contact in 5 turns (but hey anything can happen). If this was a simple error then the offer can be withdrawn (I'm assuming) on the next turn.

I've never had any diplomatic contact with a human player (new to MP)so I will have to be careful when it comes about. The diplo screen looks more complicated than in single player but thankfully most of the buttons look self-explanatory. I wouldn't want to accidentally gift my headquarters to an enemy LOL.

Yes, communications are forbidden until contact or until commlinks are obtained in-game. I quite doubt anyone would be able to do it this early, but it is possible to find commlinks in a pod, so it cannot be ruled out.

The diplomacy screen works quite OK when you get used to it (though negotiations are painfully slow). A good way to familiarize yourself with it is to just start a hotseat game against yourself and send various offers back and forth. Note that the "attack my enemy" option does not work properly (it will be the one who suggests it who declares vendetta ), you cannot give away bases, and in any case, nothing happens until both players have clicked "accept" to the same offer.

Just typing text will not make the box appear automatically; if you just want to talk, make a dummy offer of 0 energy.
