I sent the next turn to the Hive yesterday, but couldn't get this server to work right.

I wouldn't mind having a fourth player join.

Whoops. Guess I was getting through. Yes, I suppose that will still be alright to go back in time.

            1. It's OK by me to go back in 2108.
            2. Hey, Capn_Hampton. Why your two last posts appeared in triples ?
            3. I will be away this weekend (I suppose its my turn to leave now). I will be back to check on my e-mail on Sunday night. CU all then.

Slocombe, what do you think? Would it be OK to backtrack a few turns and have Googlie join?

Turn 2112 sent to the Hive

I am continuing the game in case Slocombe does not want to backtrack. I think the decision should be unanimous.

I'm back. Turn sent to UoP. The decision must be unanimous and I'm voting for four players (with Googlie of course). It won't be such a big deal to go back in time for a while, now that we managed to speed up the game. But let's decide now...

Would it sound mean spirited of me to say I'd prefer not to back track?

Firstly - it means backing up the game 4 moves, out of a total 12. Bearing in mind it's taken us an age to get this far - that's significant.

Secondly - the game is proceeding much faster now with just 3 players.

So we have to balance a faster game vs. a "more interesting" game (i.e. Sparta is human vs. AI).

I'd like to just carry on with three, but don't want to sound like a scrooge to ole' Googlie, I'll go with a majority verdict, but consider the points made above first.

Slocombe, your points are right, but its Googlie, not just one more "player". On the other hand four players is so... intuitive, if you see what I mean. But it's OK I will accept a 50-50 position and wait for capn_hampton's verdict...

                            Turn 2113 sent to Hive

I am afraid that I will have to recant my vote. I think we have progressed too far to quit now, especially with how slow the game went before. Sorry, Googlie.

Hey, no problem - have a good game.

I'm in almost a dozen now anyway since I decided to give PBEMs a try. The Parallel Aliens is particularly interesting since we are sharing a www xdrive and playing almost realtime from that (saving and loading to/from the common virtual drive) getting about five turns a day on both simultaneous games.

It would work with three players as well - one of you get xdrive from www.xdrive.com and just give the member name and password to the others. Almost as good as IP

                              Googlie

Turn sent to University. OK, we continue the three of us.
