    I'd PM him

I'm checking the viewing stats for the Embassy, and after I discount my own visits, there are precious few (and I arrant the vast majority are other Spartans)

      How's this for size.

      Headline: Interfactiona Relations

      Mister Mead,

the Morganites have established that they wish for further co-operation with the Spartan Federation, in hopes of countering a possible alliance between the Gaians and the Data Angels. There is clear support for this co-operation within the Spartan ranks, but your actions so far have been puzzling. Mainly because there hardly are any.

We have observed and monitored the Virtual Embassy set by Major Googlie with interest and earnest, but Morganite activity there seems to be a seldom occurrence.

Spartans are not prone to jumping to hasty conclusions, but this current trend is of concern to us. A trade proposal is on the table there, and we are waiting for your final word on our Treaty agreement. You have also had the turn in your possession for 24 hours now, and we would desire quick action in diplomatic affairs. We need to act swiftly, as the Gaians and Data Angels may already have a considerable headstart.

If our Virtual Embassy arrangement is a hindrance to you, by all means, suggest a replacement so that we can proceed with our talks posthaste.

      Yours sincerely,

Major Kassiopeia, Diplomatic Officer of the Junta.
Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

I'd be guilty of quite a few of those visits, Googlie...

        Sounds Good, Kass.
(Finally. We're starting to press in the diplomatic department.)
This is what it means to be a Spartan. It's not the killing or the suffering that matters. It's the purity of focus, without fear of death or pain.

Looks good to me (I guess my promotion isn't finalized yet - I suppose I need to arm-wrestle Lt Col Maniac for possession of the electronics cryatal with Colonel Santiago's signature)

Or a fixed payment of 1.5 or 2 credits per year? 2 credits ~= 1 mineral IMHO, so they would be more or less paying our support costs. The advantage for the Morganites lies in the fact that they don't have to build a ship themselves.

Oh, and do we really go back to altering what I already did say was an acceptance of their terms? Didn't we nearly have this same mess with the Gaians?
To prevent that happening from a third time, may I suggest we wait a little longer in the future before posting diplomatic messages? That way everyone has a chance to tell his opinion. Since the other factions are very slow in diplomacy at the moment, us taking a little longer to post a reply wouldn't make much of a difference I believe.

Also, we haven't stated a term yet for our treaty, as we did for the Gaians. So we could say we're willing to sign a treaty, with a renegotiation every five years or so? Then over five years we could put Hunter exploration up for discussion again. Or alternatively if they wait too long with replying anything in the embassy, we would say we've changed our minds due to their silence?

I think the proposal about exchanging energy for the screenshots was on the table for at least two or three days with only me and Googlie commenting on it, we can drag our feet so can people can opine on things but we can't grag on for too long. I took the silence to mean a consent of the Junta.

              That we can do.

Okay, this is how I put it: "You haven't finalised it yet, the Junta has reconsidered the deal, and does not like the way it was, so we're adding stuff."

Whoops. I reread the thread and it seems like I have made a mistake. I guess because the thread was being posted in so fast, I missed a few posts. Namely this post and the next five or so. And those were rather crucial posts: in those Googlie and KK agreed to give Morganites those screenies without further payment being necessary. While in the posts just above those, Googlie and KK seemed to want more payment for that exploration data. That's also what caused my confusion here when I first noticed that SCC Hunter screenie in the embassy.

So I'd like to apologize for my questions regarding the deal made: I didn't realize there was a clear Junta majority in favour of it. So if you are still in favour of the deal we have now, and don't want to renegotiate, who am I to disagree? Would it be too late to edit away the post you have just made?
                  Sorry for the mess.

Btw, did something change in the Morganite diplomacy window, or are our treaty and Gene Splicing offer still pending?

                    • Nothing from Morgan this turn re the treaty and/or gene Splicing - just silence

I can go into the Embassy and remove our post with the offer/agreement in it - or kass can edit it saying something like:

"We are taking your silence as indicating no interest in our proposed terms, therefor for the moment all offers are off the table"

                      • Are we in favour of the earlier treaty or do we want to stick with the amendments I just posted? Googlie? I'm indifferent, really, the temporarity stuff we did miss though. (But I think I spun that one up pretty well too. Oh the things we can get away with if they remain silent)

                        • They have to offer us something for the Treaty, as they benefit more than we do.

I like what you've posted (a couple of typos, though - my bolding below)

The temporary nature is to ensure that such agreements do not become an unnecessary burden to our isolationist faction. Be most assured however, that through co-operation and gaining trust this Treaty y will be ........

                          • Glad you like it. Typos fixed - I was called off to have dinner when I started that paragraph.

                            • LOL

                              Now a question ...........

What to do with the SCC Hunter?

                              a) - explore the Morgan coastline
                              b) - head deep into the southwest to see if we can find the Angels' territory
                              c) - stick to the original plan and rendezvous with the SNC Pegasus to sheepdog it thru some serious podpopping

My vote is for c) - we've a good chance of energy credits, AA's (and maybe even a level-1 tech or 2) and even if we pop an IoD, there's still ec's to be had by Hunter toasting it

                              • Hmm - interesting reply from Morgan:

Posted in the Embassy by jtsisyoda, of the Morganites
We consider the deal finalized, but first you have to take Gene Splicing off the list in the Diplo box
and it was accompanied by a slew of "mea culpas" by the turnplayer, jtsisyoda.

Methinks they are getting a little worried that they might be "driving us into the Gaians camp"

How do we capitalize on their paranoia?
