  • I'm going to suggest the summit to Illuminatus via PM. I should attend the summit; I'll fit it into my writing schedule.
Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

Any reply from Illuminatis? He is usually quick to reply.
No news in this case could be very bad news ...

      • Perhaps send a copy to Chaos Theory?
Anyway, tomorrow I'm still home (free monday: Day of the Dynasty), but after that I'm in Gent for the rest of the week, so I wouldn't be able to attend a real-time summit.

        • Well, at least their mindworm in Hiveland cut and run (or was destroyed, maybe?)

In any event, R-112 was able to move East onto the river, with nary a sign of it

          • I thought I posted it here. OR was it another thread? Anyway, Illuminatus suggested that I talk to Chaos about the summit. He already suggested one ex tempore when he saw me and Googlie online, but the time was nothing sort of impossible for me. Everyone interesting in taking part in the summit ought to post a table of times for the next five - seven days or so in which they can attend; I'll ask CT for a similar table, and try to find as good a time as possible.

All times in GMT, please. I think a period of at least an hour or two would be in order.

For me, today (Wed) is right out.
            Thursday (18th Nov) 21:00 GMT - Friday 1:00 GMT
            Friday 12:00 GMT - Saturday 3:00 GMT
            Saturday 15:00 GMT - 17:45 GMT, 20:45 GMT - Sunday 3:00 GMT
            Sunday 18:00 GMT - 22:00 GMT
            Monday 8:00 GMT - 22:00 GMT
            Tuesday 13:00 GMT - 22:00 GMT
            Wednesday 12:00 GMT - 22:00 GMT
            Thursday (25th Nov) 17:00 GMT - 22:00 GMT

I can stretch an hour there, an hour here if needed.

              • CT says (I decided to ask him for times he could be available this coming weekend, seeing that next thursday might be a bit too far away):

In general, I should be around from 18:00 to 23:00 GMT, and then again sometime around 8:00 GMT. Between 23:00 and 8:00, I may or may not be around, but I could schedule being around then.
I'm therefore tentatively placing the summit on Saturday the 20th 21:00 GMT. If that doesn't work for some reason, then the same time on Sunday.

Then there's location. I'm personally suggesting the irc.civgaming.net server - thanks to its relative obscurity and due to the fact that I'm a services admin there (I can keep the channel hidden from prying eyes). On Poly's server we may run the risk of uninvited visitors.

                • A funny thing happened on the way to .......

Sitting in front of the TV with my laptop revelling in the wiereless connection, I was prepping the thread on the 2148 turn moves.

I didn't have the sav on the laptop and it was easier to download from the general thread and then just replicate the moves actually made in 2147.

                  Except ................

When I popped that pod with Shinsengumi, I got a dimensional rift that repositioned me right between a Gaian mindworm and a Gaian Probe on their mainland

That got me to thinking ................... what if that had happened on the official turn, with the delicate state of Sparta-Gaian relations. Would they ever have believed it was a dimensional rift? Or would they think that all our diplomacy had been setting them up for invasion??

                  Intreresting speculation

                  • It was a 1-1-2 rover. Certainly we'd not be silly enough to invade with something like that? Granted, it would have given them the perfect pretext had they been intent on vendetta all along.

                    • But they wouldn't have known whether there was an Impact Rover right behind it.

Anyway, it didn't happen in the official turn

                      • I should be able to make it Saturday.
What do we plan to discuss on this summit btw?

                        • Well, the reason I suggested it was to clear things up and generally improve our relations with the Gaians. Not cooperating with them, or even being at war with them, did not fit in any of the plans I had read about.

We obviously shouldn't apologize, and we shouldn't force them to do so either, but I'm sure we could just leave the past behind and start a new era of cooperation and harmony ... before we crush them like bugs.

                          • I was thinking of trying to, having been in the sidelines for a while, be an arbiter of sorts. We could try to figure out together what the current situation is, why they have a problem with us, why we have a problem with them, and try to mend the current gap a bit.

I'm not sure if others than me and Googlie should join, if we have four Spartans and a single Gaian it'll look silly - imagine the US President, the VP and the Secretary of State having a summit with... the Russian Minister of Culture. Prestige loss imminent.

                            • Or should I even attend?

That way Maniac or Kass can say:

"Googlie's still pissed off at Illuminatus questioning his honesty and integrity, but don't worry, it's not affecting how the game is being played or our realtions with the Gaians. He'll accept a majority opinion in the Junta."

That way I can be that somewhat "evil" presence lurking in the background, the "ghost in the cupboard" so to speak
