  • Spotted the following units a few tiles off our eastern coast, barely in sensor range:
50% damaged 6-1-10 needlejet - not clear why it's damaged
    1-2t-6 cruiser
    0-1-5 transport cruiser
    0-1-3 transport foil

The units appear to be heading around fungus to participate in capturing PK territory, with the jet over them to protect them (possibly from us).

    • I presume these are Spartan Units? It's too bad our airforce isn't a little bigger and doesn't include a fighter or two. I'd LOVE to give that Spartan taskforce a bloody nose Ah, dream on Net Warrior!

        Gentlemen:

In game we have asked what your price might be for:

        > trading Centauri Empathy to us (we'll get it via the PDL when Yang gets it in 4 years, but it would suit our planning to get it earlier)

        > Supporting our candidacy for Planetary Governor now that Lal has been ....... removed from office

        • 1st - what can they offer.

2nd - nope (im not aware of the current vote count, but I'd support Yang).

          • Note the Spartan bluster in the C(P)PC thread regarding Angel-Uni contact. We'd better be ready for war.

              Greetings Lord of Gaia,

              quote:
              2) We haven't come to a consensus on the price of granting you universal infiltration. You realize, of course, that the governorship is often granted to the weak, rather than the strong, as evidenced by Lal. When are you planning on holding elections, anyway?

We do not have any fixed date to call elections. There's little point in doing so before we have a clear picture what the result of such a vote would be. Though of course one probably can't wait indefinitely. Last time it was not a human, but Zakharov who called elections. Who knows we could be surprised again, and Yang will call elections in the hopes of getting voted in. Which is a scary thought. He could veto such motions as a global trade pact, and it would increase his military might even further.

              quote:
              1) Perhaps instead of askng us what we'd like, you could propose which techs you'd be willing to trade.

We have lots of techs available:

              Adaptive Doctrine
              Adaptive Economics
              Advanced Subatomic theory
              Applied Relativity
              Cyberethics
              Doc: Initiative
              Field Modulation
              Nonlinear Math
              Optical Computers
              Planetary Economics

              Progenitor Psych
              Superconductor
              Superstring Theory
              Advanced Military Algorithms

And we could pledge our and Zakharov's support for a global trade pact.

We hope you will consider this proposal.

              On behalf of the Junta,

              Colonel Pedro 'Maniac' Riveira
              [/q]

              That's a lot of techs.

              • Yes it is, and it's a tempting offer, but if we've signed the fusion-orbital deal with Angels all those techs except only the Pla Econ are obsolete.

Two others which we might still like are:
AMA - get ability from DA
SuperString Theory - well, I guess as Chaos is an expensive weapon we could try to live without it for time being.

BTW - Have DA got PreSentAlgos?
If so, why don't they build the HSA?

Greetings Lords of the Gaian Union,

As this year we have located three Angel units in the Spartan sphere of influence, as we have observed a military build-up in Mart Pact, as they have stolen credits from the University of Planet, on top of dropping a few probes on our territory a couple years back, we have decided to perform a military raid on Angel territory. We shall continue this operation until the Angel government is willing to pay back immediately the sum of credits stolen from the University Protectorate.

Once again there has been an automatic declaration of war by the Gaian AI. We have no quarrel with you however, and therefore we have offered you a treaty. We hope you will accept it, so our relations need not deteriorate due to the Angel refusal to behave.

                      • So the Spartans and Hive are up for elections. The way the numbers work, if we vote for the Spartans, they win. If we vote for the Hive, they win unless the Morganites and Angels both vote for the Spartans. If we abstain, at least the Morganites and probably the Angels too need to vote for the Hive, or the Spartans win. I see it as clear-cut that we should vote for Yang over the Spartans, since he is a much less dangerous opponent.

                              • Dear Friends:

Our agents on the ground in Terrapseo alerted us to the fact that Morgan operatives were readying for a massive covert operations exercise against our vassal, the University.

As a measure of self defence, and to forestall such action, the Junta has authorized a pre-emptive strike against Morgan interests. Spartan covert operations agents engaged Morgan agents, successfully we might add.

As a result, Gaian agents on the ground there have taken it upon themselves to declare vendetta against the Spartan Federation, and we are sure that this is not the official position of the Gaian Lords

Sunspot activity prevents us from offering a re-instatement of Treaty within the mechanisms of the diplomatic pouches, but as we harbour no ill-will against our Gaian friends we are suggesting that we treat each other as though the Treaty were still in effect.

Are you in agreement with this procedure?

                                Yours truly,

                                Snoddasmannen,
                                Foreign Affairs Officer, The Junta
                                Answered positively
