Well, the Hive is AI in this demogame, so it´s not possible to join them. However, the Morgans, Spartans, Data Angels and Gaians are open for new members, so just pick one and apply for citizenship
I doubt you´ll find peer-to-peer players for SMAC/X, since it´s quite buggy with this connection. PBEM (by eMail) works fine and is very easy to do. I´m sure you´ll find players in the Apolyton SMAC/X Multiplayer Forum.
After careful internal deliberation and weighing of the opportunities, a decision has been made.
The decision was based on shared views between my own and the Federation. The level of activity within their government is impressive as well. Overall, the responses provided to my queries were very creative and/or amusing. Sparta also has offered me the best position within their faction to further my research.
Appreciated is the time spent entertaining my requests and sharing a taste of the human social structure. For that I am greatful.

An official Morgan limo zoomed down the steet. Arginine had seen the street many times as negotiations had been a lot more involving and time consuming than expected. Arginine had demanded some changes, a bigger salary being foremost of them. During the process of negotiation, he had to give up some of his demands. Still, he was going to get a good salary.
Anyhow, the Corporation had some problems now. The Corporation was at war with the two most powerful factions on planet: The Human Hive and the Spartan Federation. The Human hive was unquestionably the largest faction on planet, while the Spartan Federation was comparable to the Corporation.
The Spartan Federation was the most technologically advanced faction on planet thanks to its skillful negotiators and early use of doc: flexibility. More recently, their zealous probe teams had extended their lead. The Federation was roughly the same size as Morgan Industries, but devoted a larger share of their GDP to military spending. Colnel Corazon Santiago herself said "Troops with Superior training can stand up to many more times their lesser armed bretheren than linear arithmetic alone would indicate". Unfortunately, linear arithmetic was what the Corporation the best the Corporation could do. Arginine felt sick at that thought.
If Corazon's quote was not to be believed, then surely Yang's hordes would crush through his forces despite Yang's unskilled generals. Yang's economists and scientists were among the stupidest on planet, yet they were outpacing the Corporation's. "Hopefully I won't have to deal with military affairs", Arginine thought grimly.
I wonder if the Corporation has established contact with the Data Angels or the Gaians by now? Arginine would know soon, but would be bound by an NDA.
Yes, I have. I would like to thank the other factions whom had considered me. The Corporation made some promises required for my return (I am bound by NDA). Had they not been honored, I woud have joined a different faction.
Now, I have to be briefed on the last 15 years' events.
