  • How if this whole thing was setup as a contest by the emperor of an galactic civilisation.

The idea is there are 7 factions that have falling onto bad times. The emperor has offered them the solar system alpha centauri, however they will have to destory all the other factions to claim the system. This offer was only made for the emperor's amusement and is also being broadcast to the entertainment media networks.

I thought it would have been fun making up the commericals every now and again.

Also it would explain losing all our techs again without being the now generic SMAC plot.

          • So we pretend we were on the unity again and it crashed etc?

            • Why not? It makes a lot of things easier. New combinations are possible, with no need to carry over old roleplay.

                    • We could just have planet flowering, and have to leave again, and split into factions aboard ship when something goes wrong again. And crash on a new planet. Planet Buster

                      • That sounds so... definitive... for the fate of that planet, I must say.

                        • True, but according to the SMAC or SMAX story, that's what happens. We could go a different route though? Given enough time I could create 4 new factions, and play those, but I think we'd rather get it started. Let the narrator pick a new story though, would be fun to see what how the plot turns out

                          • I have now finished creating the set - up including map, human and AI starting positions etc.

Basically from my view it is ready to go.
The alphax.ini modifications still need to be made though so I have forwarded the scenario to Googlie to request his input on it and that the mods are made.

Once I have the modified ini file it should be ready to go after OI have played it a bit forward to ensure there are none of the usual scenario glitches such as difficulty level mismatches, missing/wrong starting techs, incorrect/missing protypes etc.

I am personally quite pleased with the set up and believe it should make a fair and challenging playing ground, where the AI at least for a while will have a role to play and everyone should have a chance.

I haven't opened the scenario yet - nor read the covering e-mail as soon as I realized its content (as doing so would automatically disqualify me from being a member of the Morgan - or any - team)

I have garnered insufficient votes in the CMN Poll to be considered as a co-moderator, so am in a bit of a quandary

Plus ..... Sparta needs team members, and that's the faction I play most often in PBEMs ..................

We've decided not to use any alphax.txt modifications to avoid all the hassle.

                                missing/wrong starting techs
Ah yes, that reminds me. Is every faction (except the Gaians of course) able to select Centauri Ecology as their first tech to research? IIRC that was a minor issue we preferred, but I forgot to put it in the summary.

                                Thanks for your effort buster.

Oh. I saw a post of you that you were negotiating with the Morganites again for a shareholder system you liked more, so I assumed you were no longer interested in the Moderator post. Therefore I didn't vote for you.
