Personally I consider one of the strong points of SMAC the well identifiable characters of the different factions, and the strong ideologies behind them. Randomizing those would remove that entire aspect, and make writing roleplay stories involving the AI factions a mess. Also we've already voted for the three AI factions (Yang, Lal and Zak), and I assume people had those faction's ideologies, agressiveness, strength and SE preferences in mind when voting on them. So changing them now would more or less make that poll invalid.

Thus you might be talking to Lal but find that he has Yang's SE choices and preferences. You won't know until you fall foul of him (well, you'd see his agenda from the profile after you met him)
That'd spice the game up (especially with the usual smax graphics bug - you wouldn't know who you were talking to!!)SMAC/X FAQ | Chiron Archives

The state of the game, from perusing the threads, is that the game needs a mod now to set out what has been decided, see what needs to be done abd to co-ordinate with Buster to get it preparedYou don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo

I agree, it needs a mod. HongHu set up the poll in the nominations thread, but no-one's posted it. I can't, since I'm standing.Smile

We can vote! I just thought if I started a poll to choose the mod, and won it, it might look like I had an unfair advantage. Voting for yourself is fine. Starting a poll gives you the opportunity of the first post, and first voting, and so I'd rather when I'm standing, that someone else starts the poll, just to be safe.
As it is Poll under way, and I'm winningSmile

Who's the game moderator?
Who are the private forum moderators? obstructor for Gaia? Skanky Burns for Sparta. Who for the other factions?
I guess Tass' super-mod powers (editing posts, changing poll options, etc...) should be removed after the current ACDG ends and he becomes a mere mortal Morganite.
Contact MarkG/DanQ for new fora and civgroups.
Make some extra propaganda for the next ACDG (after everything else is decided and things can get going. Otherwise newbies will join but lose interest again before the game has even started.)
What did I all forget to include?
Also what's the story behind the new ACDGIII? Are we starting afresh or going to try have some story continuty from the ACDGII?

I would prefer a fresh story since continues one has too many plot holes.SMAC/X FAQ | Chiron Archives
