Yeah, and it is going to be this way for the next game isn't it?

I guess I was wrongly under the impression that this was an Apolyton ACDG

If we want to be sarcastic....I was under the impression that this was a democracy

Either every faction's main base is on Apolyton, or either we state right from the start that we can place our main bases of discussions everywhere (Why is this forum still needed then?).

The main forum is needed so that the factions all have a place to spam talk about matters relating to the ACDG.
However, theres no need to have the private forum here on Apolyton. Sure, you won't be able to see the members list of the other factions forum, but...Oh well. IRL, no country can get the entire list of citizens from another country
But for me this is mainly a unification issue: If two factions want to unify, they should well be able to unify. Why not? Because it gives the faction an added advantage? It's a legitimate tactic: cooperating with a rival in order to defeat other rivals. Unification just takes it to another level where *everything* is shared.
And again, unifications have happend IRL as well.
We can try to ensure that some things are equal, but lets not go to the point where we limit everything in order to give everyone an equal chance of winning.

Tass I thought no coop victory is already decided. Are you trying to reopen another can of worms?

No. I'm just saying a unification (ie complete share of all information, exchange of forum members, etc) should be allowed.
Since co-op isn't allowed, it would make it really interesting. Imagine, these two factions share everything, and then they have to go to war with each other at the end!

Well, with the knowledge that only one can win, who in their right minds would do that? I mean, I might see the appeal of such if it were a temporary thing, but even that's a stretch...

Exactly. So whats the point of even outlawing it?

Although if two factions united, in the endgame all that need happen is everyone decide which faction they want to win, then join that one as their primary faction, and use the other one as a stepping stone to victory!

The Drones had an off-Poly forum (for some reason), and whilst that stopped me from joining them properly, that should be allowed. Personally I wouldn't want to leave Poly. Everything else I do is here, and it's just an unnecessary hassle of extra logins and websites to bounce around.

I think all the factions should be at least active on Poly. Its a Poly game, all players have Poly logins so there is really no reason for moving factions off the site.

Well....If most of the faction members are used to a different site, if they want to do something to the forum to make it different, if they want subforums in their forum, if they want it to be more secure and prevent deadwood from joining....
They might set up shop somewhere else

And they can - as long as they are still active here as well.

Personally I think the wait for the current game to end has shown which factions will become inactive and may suffer problems. You can actually see which people will still be around in another 3 months.

Well it makes no sense then to setup a game here if we are only going to need a turn tracking thread on Poly.

I don't understand why we are discussing this issue. Are we afraid the four teams that are formed for the next ACDG game will be active somewhere else rather than here at Poly?

What's to be afraid of? In the end it's all against anyone anyway.

Doesn't matter IMO where a private forum is, as long as an open discussion channel (forum) is maintained here on 'Poly.

Exactly. A poly game means the game is held by Poly, the center place for the game is provided by Poly. Why does it matter where somebody chooses to do their preparation for a game? It's not like we all don't already have a private forum for the team currently somewhere.
