Why I have absolutely no idea what your talking about Maniac.... I am simply trying to add some spice to the game, like we all experienced when we first played this game that we all love!
Sea Monoliths are something I have played with and observed work within the context of the game. After observing we are probably going to play on a balanced map, and making the comment that employed properly, Sea Monoliths enhance the game accordingly, why I thought I would offer the comment that the Sea Monoliths could be incorporated into a game, and that perhaps we should discuss this accordingly. However, if you personally have already decided your opinion based upon the biased words of Data Angel johndmuller, then I won't waste my words on trying to disuade your personal opinion.

How about sonar buoys then as FlameFlash proposed?

        Comments:

        1) The current game mapsize is 48 x 96. that was plenty big enough, I think

        2) I'm in a couple of games that Darsnan has set up and they have ocean boreholes and sea monoliths. They do add a different dimension (IoD's heal in 1 turn rather than lurking in a fungus patch for 4 turns)

        3) Sonar buoys add an interesting tactical feature to the game (like advance notice of foils and probeships approaching your coast, same as land sensor arrays do for land forces). They are not limited in functionality to just seabases. Of course you can achieve the same effect (more expensively) with a trawler with deep radar (and it can perform a useful purpose as well, trawling minerals, food or energy)

          In favor for these additions.

This is where I first documented it. I had previously used Sensor Bouy's as far back as two years ago in my "King of the Hill" Challenge over at CGN. FYI.

Yeah sonars are cool, as are sea monoliths. I'm against sea boreholes on principle though. They're just not even a logical possibility, cutting through the ocean to the core of planet. It's bizare and completely unrealistic!

Didn't want to imply that this is a new idea, Darsnan. Simply brought it up because I knew FlameFlash was testing the idea.

I wanted to know how it was possible and how to add it in! I knew it'd probably been done before, hence why I started asking about it.

Go with the Sonar buoys, they sound pretty cool.

Another good tweek, drop the -1 food produced in a Mine square, that just hurts the AI cause they love the mine/farm combo and will do virtualy nothing to human teams (accept possibly make terraforming more interesting).

Who cares if it hurts the AI? Like they really take advantage of some of the other stuff CMNs do for them (recalling the Believers' multitude of colony pods.)

OK Ive looked around and I still cant figure it out.

What is a CMN? I know it will be probably simple as heck, but for the life of me I cant figure it out.

                            Thanks

Creator Moderator Narrator. Most games these days all they do is create, but the name still stands.

Creator - sets up the game, draws the map, assigns start positions, tweaks the AI, sets passwords

Moderator - adjudicates disputes during the game, arranges for replacement players

Narrator - now virtually defunct responsibility - used to periodically post in the turn reporting thread a "view from above" where some macro information was divulged
