      Early years, by Lord Goran
      Part one of four:

Gaians are a peace loving nation, you would say. But while it is true we like to avoid military conflict, we are more isolationist, and prefer to pursue our own matters, before engaging into interfactional matters. We are a nation of builders, developers, philsophers, strategists and researchers. We prefer using airforce and psi armies for defense, and our armies have lower morale because of our pacifist tendencies.

Gaians are ruled generally by democratic system, but there are some other elements in it.
      ************************************************** ************************************
Gaians are ruled by two most powerfull figures, called praetor, and chancellor. Preator and chancellor are generally leading the faction, but is notable that praetors power overrules those of chansellor. Chancellor is also the prime minister. Praetor names all members of government accoding to results of polls and elections.
Government is called the Great council, and is composed of several councilman of different rankings.
Ther is councilor of foreign affairs (all proconsuls and other members authorised for foreign communication are under his command), councilor of internal affairs (all consuls and legates respond to him), councilor of environmental protection, councilor of military (all units are under his command), councilman of internal and external information (makes inner and outer maganizes, newspapers etc.).
Rank of proconsul, for instance is one of highest positions, and all bearing this title are offically allowed to make diplomatic contact with other factions, and do have as well substantial power.
Rank of consul is pretty high enough, and they have the authority to command smaller armies, and lead parts of Gaian teritory.
Legate is below consul in rank, but is still powerfull. It is generally governor of some bases, and military units can be assigned to his control.
Praefect is the lowest of all titles, they do not have much power, but this title is automatically gained after a mamber of faction proves his activity and interest in actual decision making..
All members of faction generally have the title of archons.
      ************************************************** ************************************
Basically every major member has a noble title like lord, count, duke, baron or marquise, but they do not really reflect the level of power, they reflect level of trust and honor invested in a member, and are often awarded for accomplishments.
      ************************************************** ************************************
There are also parties in Gaians, which also advocate policies. One member can simultanuosly be part of several minor parties, but never of more than one major.

Justians – are a major party, they advocate isolationism and abstaining from foreign affairs, while equalizing both military and economy
Aresians – are a major party, they advocate stronger foreign approach and strong army
Zeusians – are a minor party, they advocate interests of the original founders, also known as party of elders
Mercurians –are a major party, they advocate growth, infrastructure, industry and economy
Poseidonians –are a minor party, they advocate generally stronger naval approach.

Purpose of parties is that besides usual polls, general policies can be quickly determined on the basis of election results. For example, ambassadors and councilman of forreign affairs can make decisions and communications based on the elections, instead of polling for every single issue. However, all faction imporant things are decided on basis of referendums.
      *******************************

      end of part one
      will be updated soon

The True Voice of the Tree, Het Masteen's notes; Part 1

These are the notes of Het Masteen, the True Voice of the Tree, the spiritual leader of the brotherhood of the Muir. We are a templar brotherhood whose purpose is to live by the teachings in the Muir's Book of Life and respect all living fauna and flora around us and to try to act as bridges between men and the nature. We worship the Eternal Tree, Yggdrasil.

Our Brotherhood is mainly unpolitical, though we are not completely pacifistic. The True Voice of the Tree has responcibility to take part in the decicion making. The governmental system in the Gaian faction is very democratic, thus making it suitable for us to take part in.

We believe this planetfall is one of the 3 pilgrimages the brotherhood has to make.

          First notes, 15th march 2100

Het Masteen's first trunk held only a few changes of linen and a copy of Muir's Book of Life. The second bag held a hundred separately wrapped seedlings, flash-dried and nestled in moist soil. Templars must plant at least a hundred offspring of the Eternal Tree on whatever place they visit. The shoots rarely take, but it's a ritual.

At last! We are finally able to plant the offsprings of the Eternal Tree. The soil around the base is unknown and were not sure if they survive for long but this is our way to greet the planet and show it our respect.

'I am the second,' said Het Masteen, the True Voice of the Tree. In the silence which followed the announcement, Her Masteen gestured and a group of templars began serving the pilgrims their last meal before the planetfall.

          To the safe landing!

Nive to see you are up and running Procounsul obstructor. One question though. You are not going to wait for your democratic election before you distribute your government positions?

Thanks dear obstructor and laurentius for your warm invitation. I cannot decide to join you just yet. I would like to see how the DataAngels are doing first. I would keep you in mind though. The Gaian is always my first love.

BTW have you thought about trying to attract a couple players with good game skills like Kody and Minute Mirage? (This is not to say you guys do not have good skills though. )

                          Stop poaching our Angel Honghu.

Try recruiting Lord Darsnan to join the Gaian's - he is a great Gaian supporter and knows a thing or two about gameplay as well as RP.

No offense taken, we are roleplayers and mediocre players. I though Kody won`t be in next ACDG because of the pressure ( or so someone told me ), and as for Minute Mirage, I might try. I would be grateful if you erm tipped him soemthing.

She hasn`t actually agreed to be an Angel.

Darsnan will be our CMN, I thought But I wouldn`t mind having CMN in team.
