First, a disclaimer: I'm not a Gaian team member.
Second, in the current DG most PBEM rules (about game bugs) are in effect. My guess is that for the next one a discussion will be held before it starts. So suggestions are welcome.
Per faction, try to discuss the things you would like to see within the Gaians with your team mates, and better discuss them before the DG starts, because changing factions is hard, if not impossible in the early game.

I see other factions do our job for us.

Pardon the novice question, but how does one join the "#gaians and #acdg on apolytons irc-server"?

It is safe to assume I am basically clueless on the Democracy game. I've done a lot of SMAX roleplaying and fiction writing, but no democracy games.

              Some basic questions:
              * I assume that multiple people are 'playing' one faction. That means responsibilities are parsed out, right? Or are decisions made by voting?
              * Is Team Deirdre playing against the AI, or other human teams?
              * How are conflicts adjudicated?
              * Who will decide what are the PBEM rules to be used in the democracy game?
              * Will one of the team members chronicle events (essentially developing a story)? If so, will other teams do the same? Will this be posted, or is this competitive such that this divulges too much info to our honorable and not-so-honorable competitors/enemies?

*Depends on faction. In our faction responsibilities are parsed out, but also all inportant decisions are polled, and any decision can be questioned by teamates.
*We are playing against three human factions (not excluded possibility that this increases or decreases and the rest of slots are AI, or possibly human helped AIs - we haven`t quite decided fully that).
*Conflicts? Betweem factions or about decisions in teams? Conflicts are resolved as in PBEMs, I guess, while conflicts in team are resolved by discussion, and poll, if it comes to that.
*We will most likely have a poll
*Basically yes. It is a practice in this ACDGs that teams made a newspaper which would have different RP stories. We usually check before sth is published i nteam so that we do not accidentally give info.
Just follow the Poly instructions about joining server (quite simple, you will see), and when youa re connected to Apolyton type /join #Gaians.

                    • All hail banner of Gaian Republic!

There several interpretations of this banner: one is that two orbs that eagle is holding are twin suns of Chiron. Other suggests that Earth and Chiron are these orbs. Third theory however suggests that orbs represent the dual nature of Gaian society.
The eagle represents the governent of people in Gaian Republic, and their wise rule through democratic institutions.
Rose symbol symbolizes Gaian need to preserve and nourish planetary life at all cost, due to need not to repeat again tragedy of Earth.

                        • The Gaian Banner looks suspiciously like the Star Trek Romulan emblem. They don't strike me as being particularly eco-friendly (unless it is for planet sculpture with orbital plasma weapons).

                          • Fact 1 - Klingons are so dirty filthy and careless that they alowed an industrial accident to Blow up the moon of their Home World Cronos rendering the planet unihabitable (Star Trek 6 The Undiscovered Country if I am correct)

Fact 2 - Romulans Hate Klingons

Their for - Romulans must be ecofriendly tree huggers
