Yes I feel hard to shut my mouth when I disagree with something. I didn't start the thread mind you. And I don't have a race to deityhood like certain people.

Yes. Lets agree to disagree. Let me remind you though your poll only has 17 votes so far. I believe many people like myself is so disgusted about this poll so they have not voted.
To be honest, I can't see the point though. The game is practically finished now and we are gearing up for the new one. Tass will not be a mod for the next game, so there isn't much point for this poll.
Jam has a right to voice his disgruntlement I suppose... I am, however, impressed with Tass' lack of posting in this thread... wait... just read the postcounts... er... with Tass' lack of firing back in this thread... there...
My understanding of the banana option is that it says "I don't care". But I do care.
Exactly. Except that the timing of the poll still allows people to gain infinite amount of postcounts from it.
I do agree with Jam, even if I disagree with how he's approaching it because honestly I doubt anybody in their right mind will be willing to become the mod and that means we'll be stuck with somebody Jam probably will like less than Tass
...and we've all seen how much dander Jam can post regarding...I'm not conceited, conceit is a fault and I have no faults...

I also have to commend on tass's self control in not fighting back in this thread. He could have locked the thread if he wanted but he didn't.

But Drogue himself hasn't been around here lately, AFAIK.
Is he still interested to do this?

Well for my two cents.
I personally think that the game moderator should be allowed to have some kind of fun. If all they do is handle arguments and game rules I think the job will quickly become a chore where they're flamed and argued with.
If you look at the track record of many of the senior Mods in forums for example they participate just as much or even more so than the non-mods. They also make jokes and such about banning people and get some corresponding flaming from the non-mods. I think this kind of participation is needed if you want to have an active Mod.
The ACDG unlike a forum doesn't allow the mods to openly participate as a non-mod. In the early stages of the game people decided that an ACDG mod needs to keep his mouth tightly shut over the game. So the question is what exactly is there left to keep a mod interested in the ACDG if they're unable to make any comments on the game? Well the only other activity is mindless roleplay, which is what we've basically been seeing from Tassadar.
Furthermore, I think the so called respect that people want to push a mod's way isn't really wanted as much as people feel it is. If they're like most people they don't want to be put on a high pedestal that sets them far apart from everyone else. It's lonely on a high pedestal and the image people paint of you is scary because it's flawless while you know you're nowhere near as good as they imagine. Also if you let people put you on a high pedestal you'll eventually disappoint them...

Hmmmm - perhaps a "from the horse's mouth" might be timely .........
I volunteered - and a poll confirmed - my CMN/MOD role in this ACGD
I tweaked the map, the AI, and set start positions after some PM lobbying and in-forums chatter about likely alliances and hates (who gets along with who, and who dislikes who)
I set up the start positions to allow for some alliances, thinking that it could either go a "builder" vs "researcher" standoff (Hive/Drones versus PUT/CyCon) with PEACE as a kingmaker/broker
Or else a composite pairing of Drone/PUT versus Hive/Cycon, with again PEACE as the broker
Or a PEACE/anyone they found first with their foil advantage versus any other pairing except Hive/PUT (I was told that there was very little likelihood that they would pact)
But the Drone-Hive meeting and subsequent podpopping earthquake threw them into each others' arms.
If I was guilty of subsequent bias, it was in trying to assist PEACE and the CyCon to enter a deeper pact - setting up a website for their communications, etc, and generally encouraging tech alignment.
And I make no apology for revealing to CyCon that the Hive had pieced together a decent map just from their infiltration data - that was in response to a PM to me inquiring if the Hive had hacked into other forums or other factions' turns to see the map themselves.
The big bone of contention was then my ruling that the CyCon backstab was legitimate (accepting a pre-accepted tech without fulfilling their side of the bargain) - especially since the Cycon had asked for an advance ruling before playing the turn.
PEACE wqere bitter, and I don't think they ever forgave me for that (and if you remember, I did resign over it, and it was at that time that Tass and I PM'd Ming and Tass got access to all forums - he already had the passwords from a friend of his who hacked the .sav files and was at that time an "assistant God"
I was prevailed upon to continue, although i did feel "hamstrung" by PEACE's lingering ill-will.
So the CMN role continued - responding to PM's asking if one faction or another were cheating, etc etc (and Tass very ably ran some investigations on those allegations)
Then came the PEACE defenders destroying the CyCon invaders although out-weaponed and out-armored (due to a hitherto unknown bug (feature?) that increased a defender's morale when the base's Command Center was sold.
I was able to replicate that result over 75% of the time, and as the sell-off of the facilities was in the turn orders, I personally would have let it pass. But I deferred to Tass in this one, given my "history" of run-ins with PEACE. He ruled against PEACE.
Since then I have pretty much lain dormant - and in my opinion Tass has done a good job of dealing with the whinings and moanings and general crap that surrounds this type of game.
I enjoyed setting up the game, and getting it off the ground. For those first thirty or so turns I replayed every turn as it happened, to ensure that no moves were being made as a result of "playing ahead" cheats. etc.
I got fed up over time and disenchanted with the bickering to the extent that I just disengaged.
So my advice would be:
Get a CMN who wants to set up the game and who has the time to commit to effectively policing the game and dealing with the inevitable crap.
And give him/her absolute power to make rulings - and accept them for what they are - honest attempts to interpret the spirit of the game to the benefit of all.
That's my 2 cents worth
Googlie
