  • Nice- how are you supposed to link it with a railroad btw?

About the girlfriend- you don't need her! Draw with one hand and.. have fun by yourself with the other
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

    • Be carefull, when putting that image.

Put it somewere were it won't overlap with other buidlings.

      • Here you have a sample of improved metropoly. It includes a railway, a railway station, a highway, and a bridge. The idea is to put these things in every metropoly. (I want to improve the contrast of the railway station a bit more).

The problem is the following. Metropolies appear in the game when you build hospitals (Sanitation). It's almost sure that you have already discovered the Steam Engine, but maybe you have not coal and iron. In this case, you can suppose that your minimal amounts of them are enough to put a railway only in metropolies and surroundings...

But, what's about the highway? Cars are supposed to appear with Mass Production or Motorized Transportation, and there is a gap of turns...

Is it bad or it does not matter? Any better idea?

(Railway and highway are "cut" in the image because of the edition of the screenshot to fit in 800x600, in the game they look right).

        • Railstation is OK, but roads should need some improvement.

Rail looks pretty thin, if not a little bit ugly (it's just one pixel wide black line).

White line on highways is to big considering the road.

You should consider that standard city road already has white line, but it's to small to be seen from areal view.
(I suggest maybe removeing white line)

And maybe highway could be wider too (as main street in the city).

          P.S.
Or maybe my perception is not good enough considering that it's image scaled down to 800x600, so maybe it'e better in original.

          P.P.S.
Also, since Railstatsing is usualy not in the middile of forest maybe you cold clear a little bit of forest before placing Railstation.
(the same way as there is cleared space for Airport)

          • I have improved the railway. You are right, it was not good.

This screenshot keeps the detail level used in the game.

Perhaps the background colour under the railways (a mix between grey and purple) is not good enough...

              • Here is a temporal solution for file "g-med.pcx" until final version is released.

This file will unzip to a bmp file. So, you have to convert it to pcx using any of the well known conversion applications. The reason is that the compression of bmp files is better, and so, it was the only way to make it fit into 500kb.

Use only 8 bits of colour in the conversion, otherwise the file will be ruined.

(Besides, there is a small black area in the top. It was also needed to reach the 500kb limit. But, believe me, it is imperceptible).

Any more comments about the new stuff for metropolies? If you like them, I will substitute old metropolis files by these new pictures.

I hope the final version of the mod will be released on Monday, with the files for towns.

                • It's better.

                  Not perfect, but better nevertheless.

                  • As you can see in the post 3 above mine, the buildings in the city are all a brownish color. I have messed around with the pallette, and created new ones. While I was at it, I made -sml version, though they may not have any use (I just got bored)

Anyway, I put all the files from this thread into one zip, with my editied files, and uploaded it to my web server. The download link is below:

                    File Size: 5.5MB

                    Enjoy

                      • How did you do??? Did you keep the colour limit at 256 (8 bits)? Otherwise, they will not work in the game... (I know it because I tried)

                        Very Interesting!!! Tell me more...

                        • YES! You did it! I have downloaded it and it's true: 256 colours... New snow and desert pictures are fantastic!

Ok, could you use the same tip when I'll post updated workshop files for metropolies and for towns?

(Now I really notice that there ARE things that cannot be done with Paint)

                          • What I want to do with the x-sml.pcx files is to keep almost the same picture than with 7-12 cities, but reducing damatically the radius...

                            • What i did, was combined many of the colors in the pallette. If two colors were really close to each other, I would combine them, and gain one color spot for the town graphics. After combining several colors, I ahd enough to make the towns colorful. I maintained the 256 color mode the whole time, and I kept the 2 transparent colors in tact. I have tried them out in the game, as a matter of fact I have screenshots of my new ones working in game so I have proven to myself that they work.

I have made a template file in Photoshop 7 that does all this work for me, so when you get another workshop, post it, and I will post my versions within 20 minutes of my downloading the workshop file.

Glad you like it. Keep up the good work. The city view is one thing that FIRAXIS is not allowing us to edit as much as we want, but that wont stop us from making it look better than before.

Can you post modified files here.

Since I have most of old ones, and my Interenet connection is pretty to poor to start donloading 5.5MB file with all thing included.
