  • GRAPHIC: New city view look

    NewCityView 6.0

    - No new rules, it is only an aesthetical mod. It has effect

cities were too empty, I preferred some kind of overcrowded cities.
    - Big buildings instead of small houses in industrial and modern eras.
Now it looks like the historical center of any current cool city.
    - The cities doesn't loose their own cultural characteristics when
    you reach the modern era.
    - No "holes" in the middle of the cities: Cities are now full of buildings.
    - Some extras in industrial and modern metropolies, like a railway station

            Sample of graphics...

Ok, ok! I'm now in the office, so I don't have here the game installed to take a screenshot, but here you have a sample of some of the new pics of buildings...
As soon as possible I will post here a real in-game screenshot...

I tell ya, Firaxis has monkeys arse's for brains.

Who said "Hey, let's make the big cities look empty and just put some buildings here and there"

Do any of them have an imagination? (Apart from the leader artist, that person put some creativity into that at least).

Hey, Ismailov, you know what would be another COOL idea? Read closely, I think this is a great idea:

Ancient: rugged people on the streets! some with ancient wheelbarrows, etc!

Classical: chariots, slaves, and so on

                Industrial: wagons, beggers, bike riders...

Modern: cars, moterbikes, petrol stations? I dunno, i'm trying to flood in some ideas.

                Don't forget the kids!

Hey, I really want this, but how do you make a city look crowded with buildings? It would be easy to change some of the houses into other buildings, like petrol stations for example.

The screenshot looks awesome but when I downloaded it both winzip and winace claim the file is corrupted or is missing a volume. I tried three times with no difference in the error message.

                    By the way, Ismailov,

It tried something similar 9 months ago.
(but it was just mostly not-so good cut&past work, but still better then original)
It can be found here at files forums:

                      Here are the files (again)

It's true: the file is broken. When I posted it I downloaded it and it worked, so I can't understand...

                      So here it is again...

The proposed ideas are good, but now I'm working on a more simple improvement: put a "central park" in the middle of the huge cities (12 population or more), so that there is never a "central hole" near the bank and the couthouse... As soon as I have it I'll post...

One of the problems is that there is no way to fill empty spaces, which are reserved for not yet built buildings or wonders.

(only Civ1 had well done city-veiew)

                          Broken again!

The file is ok in my computer, but when I download it, it is broken. Therefore, I'll send the five files one by one...

pcx extension are not allowed, so I'll put it as bmp. Just rename the extension to pcx when you download it...

                          Here is the first...
