    • after looking at all 5-6 different versions, the one I just posted looks to be the best. I am going to start making the images, but please post feedback still.

        • I'd have to agree, that last one looks the best. It has a nice blend of contrast and, umm, blend .

Good work, these cities are amazing

            • Absolutely superb !

I personally don't like the railway station. Could you create new metropolis files without railway, just with highways? It looks great.

              • That would be a job for the creator of the workshop files, as that is what I go off of. I guess I could try by myself. . .

                • Well, I tried, and made a version without the rail, but with the road. If I get a new workshop then I will redo it as mine is cut-n-pasted together.

You can get them at the usual site.

                  • oh yeah, about the bridge. I left it in for some reason, it adds to the scene, but detracts from reality. That is something that I will need a workshop to fix in the future.

                        • Looks great! I love it.

But on the outskirts of the city, the houses should thin out a bit. Right now it kind of looks like they have been shoved up against the outskirts.

                          • Its quieter out there, away from the highway, so people flock to live there. Yeah, thats it.

                            • As I said earilier, in some places houses need to be taken out.
(like in that example for small size cities)

But, lets wait a month or two unit Ismailov (exept GIDustin wan't to do it himself) finds time to make this more a little bit more prefect.

                              • After some time playing with this mod here are some comments.

In industrial and modern era this mod is 95% OK.

But in medieval and ancient era only 50%.

First, background file for just up to 6 size cities needs serous reduction in size.
So that buildings are inside city walls (and to check all stiles of walls since they are not same).
And that buildings need to be placed only there were are roads for such small cities (so that there are no buildings block in empty land without roads).

Second, some building overlaps give pretty ugly effects, especially in ancient era.
Since in that era some buildings have no floor graphic (like ancient barracks).
So barracks + background graphic files together look pretty ugly.

Something similar can be seen with small Chinese palace graphic (graphic for palace with only several sections).
It has gray floor in front of palace, but it combined with background building in same place looks pretty ugly.

So to solve this, since most problems are made by city improvements and palace, which by their nature are always in same fixed spots, in those parts background graphic should be removed or at least reduced a little (to prevent ugly effect).

Good thing is that age dependent filler graphic does not have similar problems such as those mentioned above.

And another thing considering 12pop cities.
They background files should be reduced a little to make them different from 12+ pop graphic and made more realistic for medieval era.

I suggest removing most of "overcrowding" houses from "shore" area.
