    If you give the airfield a strength 1 bombardment, it should make the computer mad if you drop it in their territory, while still making it capturable. Not sure if just making it 1 attack, 0 defense would do the same. It's kind of odd for the field to have a bombardment, but by the modern age a bombard of 1 is basically the same as no bombard at all.

      Thanks to Dark Sheer at CivFanatics, I now have and actual airbase graphic. I have also made the airbase new unit, instead of scrapping the Explorer to make room. I will likely be not making any more changes to this mod. Get it at the top post.

          Doesn't work - as soon as I first click on the Airbase in the build queue the game crashes. Additionally in the Industrial age (even before Advanced Flight) the Worker loses it's icon in the build queue - there is just a blank space. Then, when you get to start of the Modern Age the icon for Worker in the build queue is transferred to Settler, which loses its icon completely. However, the actual unit graphics are unchanged when you build either Settler or Worker (thank god).

            as soon as I first click on the Airbase in the build queue the game crashes.
            first thing did you create a unit folder for the airbase unit?

            if not you need to do that, and make sure that there is an airbase.ini file along with all of the others

            this is well documented, you need an updated units_32.pcx file, every time you add a new unit you need to move the units around in the units_32.pcx to not get those problems

              thanx korn469 - i did indeed forget to creat a new folder for the airbase graphix, although i understand these graphix don't actaully work?
              But - how does one update the units_32 file? I'm somewhat new to this and moving them around sounds a bit vague.

                take a look at this units_32.pcx I made. It has room for 5 new units. If you look at the file and compare it to the original (in the art\units\ directory) you will see that everything to the right of the privateer needs to be moved one spot for every new unit.

                  Mizaq; cheers for the much needed example. Just one question: presumably i also have to put the icon for the new unit in the new space. However, for this airbases mod do i take that icon from the Art>Units>Airbase folder or from the actual pcx file itself (i.e. copy and paste the Carrier icon)? Thanx again - we need vets like u to teach newbies like me.
