oh... wait, last chance for solution:
maps used to be different sizes. huge was IIRC 180x180 and large was something around 140x140 (check out the manual for exact details). maybe the size of the image wasn't right...
can you post your source image and the generated file?

Yes, in the regular Civ3 1.29f, it just says the map is corrupt.

may PM one of the great map makers here and at CFC. kal-el, TETurkhan, Marla, el mencey, ...
otherwise it might be time for someone to reprogram this tool for 1.29f maps

load the converted map in the editor and save it as another file. that should convert it into an actual version you can use for the game.
however: this might not work... but try it

I think LookANinja is gone. It would have been nice of him to release his source code before leaving.

cloutier: this utility generates a very very old format. you might have to convert it with the editor (load, resave).
i don't know what else to do...

Help! When I create a map using your utility, and then try to play it, it crashes after I build my second city!
That is, it crashes after it tells me I can build the forbidden palace, and when I try to change prod from a spearman to a worker on my second city, It crashes.
I made a 256x256 Canada map

Well, I guess the program doesn't read the rules to select a mapsize best fitting with the imported size, and therefore uses the settings for tiny map.
