Should the aluminum resource represent Bauxite locations or Aluminum production? This is significant because production would put it in northern hemispere and Bauxite puts them mostly in the southern hemisphere.

Currently on the map I have it representing bauxite, I'm thinking I should change that.

      The map is complete!!!

I still have the aluminum resource representing bauxite and in the southern hemisphere... Anyone think it should represent aluminum production instead? Reason I ask is because several resources come from the southern hemisphere ... the only things uniquely from the north are furs & wine. The southern hemisphere has inscence, ivory, silk, spices, gems, and rubber.

I have done some neat things with resources ... for instance the middle east has no iron what so ever ...

        Zeb,

Just checked out the latest version of the map and it looks great. Looking forward to trying it, but couldn't download from the site. Will you be providing a downloadable link?

Not sure of your aluminum question, and frankly don't want to know the answer. I prefer to stumble upon the resources as I play. (For that reason, I only looked at the "full map" view so as not to see the rest of the resources. Of course, I can't help knowing there will probably be oil in the mid-east, etc. )
        Eine Spritze gegen Schmerzen, bitte.

I see you are missing: Svalbard, Franz Josef Land (both located north of Russia/Norway

Somthing I find odd: Are those islands south of South America supposed to be Falkland Islands and South Georgia? They are only two dots and both at the same level and east of the south tip of S.A. According to my map, there are no islands south of South America.

Hard to see: Do you have Cape Verde (west of Africa), Maldives (south of India) and Diego Garcia?
This might or might not be a signature

            Hey everyone,

I've been away, so I haven't quite finished the map yet to where I want to post it. There's a few minor tweaks I want to make ... specifically with resource locations. And, some map work ... yea ... the Falkland Islands are out of place ... I'll make the fixes you suggested. I think there might be a problem with having an island being only one square though ... a civ puts a city on it and there is no way to invade ... can a galley unload units straight into an enemy city if it is unguarded or guarded?

Other than this, I've been playing the map from different locations and it proves to be quite fun. Each location requires a different strategy ... Americas you must expand fast, Italy you have to build a war machine very quickly, Japan you need a war machine and a small navy, England navy and expansion, etc...

Very nice, much better than the game map. My only beef is with that giant Brittany in France. Very good though.

I canot freain' believe we can't use historic starting locations. What the hell were they thinking!!!

Hmmm ... I'm not really sure why that would happen. Did you download it from here?

I'm making a new world map. Smaller nations like Europe will be slightly distorted so that they are bigger. Just like the cold war maps. You'll actually be able to put 3 or 4 cities in England. Other continents like Africa and Asia will be squashed somewhat to make up for it.

I've attached a screen shot from the editor. Don't know how long it will take, but I'll post it here when I'm done.

At least you got some nerve calling Europe a "smaller nation"!!!

                          Um, why?

During the crusades, the Arabs had the finest steel in the world (Damascus steel).

It was blue, and was sharp enough that if you dropped a scarf on ot, it would slice it in two.

                            You place recources, not industry.
With aluminum it's similar like oil and rubber: recource is bauxit, but bauxit is to find also in ocean in concentrations. So from my view you should set some recource points just in the coast region on land where there are offshore recources. Both, for oil and for bauxit. But don't set aluminium to the places where factories are! That the more, as in the game is no way to take coal instead of oil to get the units (coal to oil)

                                Complains, complains!!!!
sorry, but recources and sea transits between seas are wrong!

                                1) in Europe Germany and France two of the worldwide biggest recources of black coal and brown coal have, much more than England.
                                2) between Black Sea and Middle Sea you can go by ship! (Istambul)
                                3) North Africa didn not have so much horses in early time
                                4) Egyptans had wine at oasis (position 106,82) well known by romans, they liked it much and made a trade route for it.
                                5) Salpeter on Sina half-isle is a big joke (116,70)
                                6) Spain + France had been nearby complete forest in history!
                                7) River Rine has to go until 96,50-97,51
                                8) River Donau has to go until 96,48
                                9) what river you made at 106,48 ? There isn't such a river

                                10) and again, place a salpeter at every start point. It was NOT a strategic recource in history for gun powder, but the game allows the early gun powder weapons to build only if you have salpeter, so in this case you have to equal that bug. Otherwise the game will be unbalanced as you can research until atom and never get better untits than sword, bow and horses. Such is stupid.
