Effectively, production doubles with factory+coal/hydro/solar plant, and goes to 2.5xraw shields for factory+nuclear. Just add another 50% to the multiplier when you build a manufacturing plant.
Aah I see, that fact that a Factory is a requirement means the it doesn't function until you have one. I wasn't aware of that.

Except with regard to volcanoes, of course! In my games, there's usually at least one AI-owned "Pompeii"!

Geronimo: In case you didn't already know, to find out the other civ's military makeup as Solomwi suggested, check with your military advisor (F2 or F3, I think). Then, click on the name of the other civ to select the civ you want from a pull-down list.

I've been waiting all game long for the Incan capital founded right next to 3 Volcanos to get blown up, and it hasn't happened yet.

Maybe, but you had the numbers wrong.

It was the way you put it. It sounded like the power plant only boosted the Factory output, when it doesn't. If you didn't have the Factory as a requirement, then it would increase the base production on it's own. It only requires the Factory in order to become active.

So long as your city is not directly adjacent to a volcano it is safe right?

In and of itself, the higher corruption is no fun at all. But in the bigger picture, the higher corruption makes it a lot harder to run away with the game by a huge margin. So even though I find it annoying, I think the game is better off with it than it would be without it.
This really is a bizarre way to address the 'problem' of larger civs being proportionately more powerful (logic suggests they would be after all).

A far more believable solution to this 'problem' would have been use the distance-rank system to control empire growth through unhappiness and it would have been even more cool to have a variation on the civ flippin mechanism that could kick in to cause weakly garrisoned unhappy cities to declare independance with a chance of nearby cities flippin to the new civ. That would have virtually unlimited power to control growth of super sized civ while parralleling the centrifugal factors that constrained the size of enormous empires historically.

Insanely high non-historical levels of corruption to contain the huge civs:

                      • If I mod my game so that corruption is much much lower than the default setting would it be possible to do so in such a way that it would only effect single player or at least would be almost instantaneous to switch back and forth between the modded and unmodded versions?

                        • You can create your own mod (a scenario), and play using that... any other scenario or game you would play (e.g., AU games, or PBEM MPs) would have there own settings. IOW, it is not a universal setting on your computer or install of the game.

So i won't be able to play on new random maps with lowered corruption? Only on scenarios with preset maps?

                            • Geronimo, just create your mod, and don't generate a map in the editor. Then you can play it on new random maps all you like. Heck, after entering the extended cities lists, I renamed mine "conquests.biq" (after backing up the original, of course), so now every time I start a new game normally, I get the changes I made.

Geronimo, does this make you feel better about the prospects for WAR??!!
