I like Rise of Rome - it's the rush "do it fast, do it furious" that keeps me playing this scenario. I feel like not having much time/resources to do it, every turn counts, all that stuff...

I voted Age of Discovery, although Napoleon interests me the most historically.

            I can't believe I actually lost a conquest the other day .

Mesopotamia. I built 4 of the 7 wonders as the hittites, but I still lost.

The blue guys (can't remember their name) laid so much waste, that they picked up a ton of points from conquest. Near the end I realized I needed more points, and attacked my nearest neigbor as well. But was only able to conquer 2 cities.

            I lost by 90 points.

but even this scenario is pretty fun. I like them all.

edit: just tried this one again- this time playing as the blue guys- sumerians. Pathetically easy. It's funny how how one facti- I mean civ can be so much easier than another. I think a lot of it has to do with starting position. Although the Sumerians early uu is a big factor in both games (the second game I was the sumerians- so I did well).

Must be Sengoku. The others are just TOO short, although they certainly have their moments
Plus, I get to shape my mob the way -I- want it, without all those horribly mis-built cities and mis-placed units
It's all my territory really, they just squat on it...!

Mesoamerican conquest is the only one really playable online. It has nice balance, offers possibilities for diplomacy, and you get to sacrifice enemy workers, what's not to like.

Rise of Rome is my fave as a hybrid builder, and it shows pretty well that historical period ( the lenghty atmospheric gameplay - huge map and huge number of units next to other scenarios , but perfectly matched in order to simulate what really was a lenghty campaign in roman times ). Closely in 2nd, Age of Discovery, even in solo against the AI, for the colonial pleasure and replay value. Finally I think the best warmongering scenario is Mesoamerica.

Of course I had to choose...

                          Sengoku: Sword of the Shogun

or I would lose my Shogun title

voted age of discovery, simply because I want another colonization game. also, I usally play as the dutch or the natives and get my a$$ drop-kicked. I was 1 turn away from winning a cultural victory with the maya, in fact I had enough points to win, but the turn I got it the portugese won by points before me. ARGH!!!
