i tested the ww2 scenario for a few turns as japan. I was dissapointed in how firaxis did it. where's russia! how are we really supposed to sink the USA fleet and run on the first turn? and why is it so easy to get my hands on oil and build all those cool oil needing units.. etc etc.

personally, i think the ww2 pacific scenario i made a while ago (http://www.apolyton.net/forums/showt...threadid=57496) is much better

This scenerio is interesting, one of the biggest omissions in Firaxis's scenerio is certainly Mother Russia. Could you please consider updating this scenerio in the Conquest editor?

I did see a couple of mistakes:

      1. The Manchuria war was from 1938-9, the Pearl Harbour attack was in 1941. Please pick a starting date that is accurate. (if it is 1941 then the Japanese should not be at war with the Russians, if it is 1940 then Japan should not be at war with the USA)

      2. If the start date is 1941 then Japan should have control over Siagon. and the USA should start out with an embargo of Japan with the British, Dutch and Russians.

      3. Change the dates to reflect the appropriate date (should not be in BC) , I also suggest that the unit selected should be weeks not months (as in the Firaxis scenerio).

If you do decide to update this scenerio please let me know, I would like to give this sdenerio a try. (I have lost my origional CIV 3 disk)

Even a Green BB can defeat a Heavy Cruiser, but I have my Subs go in first, and bombard with the Green BB's (Arizona & Oklahoma) and attack with the regulars

and the fleet around the philappines is completely useless as well. The best they can do is maybe- maybe take a submarine. The second time I played I retreated those ships to the south and regrouped with my main force.
The small fleet, and the subs around the Phillippines should be able to take out a small portion of the Japanese fleet (2-4) as well as one transport. Taking them down south only leads them to be destroyed by the Fleet coming from the Siagon area.

I tried taking my battleships and attacking the japanese fleet near pearl harbour at about turn 3. I didn't sink any carriers, and I lost a couple of battleships. I did scare them off though, and the sad thing is they never kept their ships on the open seas after that point.
Try attacking with the subs first. They can attack a capital ship without dealing with the escorts first.

Russia did not declare war until August 8, 1945.

Of course the whole point of civ games is to rewrite history. They could have included some russian cities that Japan would have the option of attacking if they were stupid enough. But I doubt it would add that much to gameplay.
