Shouldn't the logical order be Swiss Mercenary->Musketman (Gunpowder) ->Rifleman (Nationalism)?

Pioneer, if you will use the Editor to inspect the upgrade paths of UUs, you will discover most point to another UU, which points to the actual upgrade unit.
(It's also mentioned here and there in the forums)
Musketman is little better than Swiss Mercenary in game stats. Obviously a designer decision/choice.
Got it thanks. I just have to go to the editor and adjust it to my liking, I guess.

This is a trick to make Swiss mercs upgrade directly to rifles (as the Dutch cannot build muskets)... you would not be very happy upgrading Swiss mercs to muskets (EDIT: musketeers I mean), or losing the ability to build Swiss mercs right after hooking your first saltpeter.
EDIT: the trick is used to allow building both Swiss pikes AND muskets at the same time.

that's quite an interesting army you've got there...
Minor bug: Using CTRL-SHFT-N and CTRL-SHFT-M to clear the map and set preferences I somehow got it stuck showing mines/colonies/etc even though I had re-checked the hide mines option. Un-checking hide mountain, clicking on OK, then going back to the preferences screen and re-checking it fixed it.
Pioneer, the upgrade path was intentional. It was put in that way so that the AI wouldn't pay 90 gold each to upgrade the (superior) Swiss Mercs to the (inferior) Musketman. Shield for shield the Swiss Merc is one of the best units in the game.

FYI the army stats are meaningless -- they have no bearing on the combat strength of the army -- it uses the individual unit stats during combat (plus the army bonus!).
Hmmm... that Army stats ARE meaningless, but it would have been nice if the bonus got added to the stats... so that Army would have been 8/9/2. Just a thought.
The greatest delight for man is to inflict defeat on his enemies, to drive them before him, to see those dear to them with their faces bathed in tears, to bestride their horses, to crush in his arms their daughters and wives.
I'm not sure where this fits, but the C3C package says it includes PtW. So, why do I have to swap out CDROMs to play my PtW PBEM? Is there some additional install step that will recognize the Conquests disc when making the copywrite protection check for PtW?
