I am looking for some hungarian (Turan I and II) or romanian tanks for my ww2 scenario. Anything available ? Which aircrafts were used by these nations in ww2 ? I think some oldfashioned german ones, like the early Me109 in later war. But which planes were used in 1940 ongoing ? Also anything available ?
Steff, I know that the Romanians were given some French planes after the fall of that country. In particular, the Dewoitine D.520 fighter and the very capable Potez 63 which was configured as a bomber and as a heavy fighter. Also, the Romanians used Italian S.M.79s on the Russian front from 1941 to 1944.
Thanx Caspian. In my scenario the Bulgarians, Romanians and Hungary will be one nation = Achsenmacht. They will have an infantry unit, one tank and one aircraft. What do you think which units I should take ?
Well, do you plan to use multiple event files? If so, I would suggest that you start with the Hungarian Turan 2. In another file replace that same slot with the PzKpfw 38 or Panzer III in 1943. The final tank should be a Panzer IV replaced in the same way. (you would have to alter the units properties in the rules.txt each time you do this).
This would mean that the axis allies don't have to research improved tanks, so I don't know if this would fit into your scenario. However, it does mean that you can have progression without using too many unit slots. Also it can simulate the fact that Germany provided many of their weapons.
This is the method I am using heavily in my own scenario.
As for the air slot. I would start with the french Dewoitine D.520. I'm sure someone has created this unit already. Replacement should be more advanced German or Italian planes such as Bf-109.
The idea with the Dewoitine seems to be good. But the scen will start in 1939 and France still exists. So I would say that in the beginning the Romanians/Bulgarians/Hungarians will not have any planes and after the fall of France/Paris they will get the necessary technic by event to produce french planes. Good idea. Maybe they later will get some Bf109 by event from the germans.
Well, I'm not sure if these counties had domestic aircraft production, but I do know that the Hungarians imported the Italian C.R.42 Falco. This was a Bi Plane. This unit would probably accurately reflect Axis Allied air power in the early years of the war.
