Can someone tell me why
When I cut and paste a new unit pic into units.gif ie replacing
t-26 with su-76 gfx that when I save the changes and reload the game it crashes?

I always use *.bmp files for all graphic files like terrain, cities or units. I think that´s easier to handle and you do not have problems with the correct format. Of course the files are bigger, but compressed with winzip there´s rather no difference in size.Comment

If you are using Windows Paint you can forget about it; it seems to save in the wrong format for civ. Get hold of a copy of Paint Shop Pro or similar and you can save as bmp or gif in the right format.Comment
