Wouldn't it be nice to have some form of strategy guide, perhaps indexed that one could search thru for detail similar to the search function here. Im sure it could be set up.....even using something as simple as outlook express or another mail tool. The threads could be imported and then one would have an offline database.

I certainly could do with something like that at this stage...too much info to digest at once and better to store it for later accessibility.
I think you can always save a thread on your HDD. There is only few threads with condensed information that deserves a download. Otherwise you would have to download all forums.
Don't miss the link Show a Printable Version in the upper part of every thread, it shows you full thread.

The main problem is that only some areas of Civ2 knowledge are ordered and condensed in guides. More people willing to sift forums and to build condensed threads is needed.

    • I've been on vacation for the last three days, and didn't check the internet at all while I was having fun...

It's going to take me a day or two to catch up on all the stuff I missed... I'll review the discussion here.

If anybody has some strong opinions, just PM me with them.
      Keep on Civin'

            • Post a link please, I can't find it out.

BTW is there any 'MP FAQ'? I had many questions when I started my first MP game. For example i had to start a thread where I asked about differencies between SP and MP, I had to test what happens if your predecessor ends a turn without warning and you are in the middle of micromanagement etc.

                • Wow, this is great. I just ran across this while asking questions on civ fanatics.

However, several of the links are broken, and I'm wondering if some data has been lost. Has there ever been any discussion of moving the Great Library to a wiki? It would be searchable, user editable, and you could combine work by multiple authors easily. It could even have category pages. It would also be easy to archive, download, backup, and restore (if necessary).

I absolutely love Civ 2 and would be more than happy to help creating and setting up this wiki if the admins are interested. I have a web server that could do this, or you could add the wiki to the apolyton site.

                  Thoughts?

                    1) Broken links
I think we should try to collect the misssing information. I have some stuff on my HDD for example. This should not be very laborious.

                    2) Wiki
This would be laborious, I think there is not many active Civ2 people here on Apolyton, you would have to create it yourself.
BTW the problem of Apolyton is data are lost sometimes, many famous old threads were lost in past, many attachements don't work after August's migration...
