  • Jubilant Crowds Agragate At Coopenhagen Palace

Denmark, by the overwhelming support of her peoples, has now officially joined CUE with full representation in both CUE houses. An early election day occured and Chappi Jublianti (his preffered latin name) and Henrik Bonhonmyrhe have been elected as adjuct representatives. 'CUE seems to be growing at an alarming pace,' Ioannes' secretary of the interior said,'we may have to drop the C in the future. We'll see where this thing goes before we make too many predictions though.'

    Spending on the Rise

CUE treasurer has sent Ioannes the do-date balance sheet, and things are on the up and up. 'Yes, we're going to have to slow down our many projects, but we definatly won't cancel any. We just need to be responsible and not spend all our money on one type of candy.'

    France Given Stern Warning

Rumors throughout the papers tell of France's unwillingness to hold to her alliance with Italy and the Ottoman. If such accusations are true, Ioannes suggests that they reverse their desision or face German steel. CUE will not tolerate anyone disrespecting a signed treaty.

-So the germans are protecting the Italian alliance now? !!

Chappi Jublianti -What a silly name for a danish representative! He can only be Italian. Something here suggests that the germans have granted the the italians a favour, by giving the chair to this seemingly ignorant nephew of the italian kaiser.

AND a Henrik Bonhonmyrhe. Suspiciously the other representative bears the name of the Italian emperor.... Hmmmm.

-BTW, London, I'll have your money ready in a few turns.

I'm afraid the AI will be a little arrogant dealing with? Anyway, we'll see about that. But lets make it a deal, then, lets say, 250 gold per turn? That will be ok with me.

          • Response to Germany

France is a sovereign nation, and if Germany want's to test their battle hardened soldiers in their "glorious" attacks on the worlds former free countries, then France is ready. Germany is a abomination of a democratic country, and should be helped and cured with an overthrow of their evil leadership.

" O God of Earth and Altar,
Bow down and hear our cry,
            Our earthly rulers falter,
            Our people drift and die.
The walls of gold entomb us,
            The swords of scorn divide,
Take not thy thunder from us,
            But take away our pride."

QUEEN VICTORIA DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS:

It is this papers sad duty to report that our beloved sovereign queen victoria has died. After reigning for over 60 years, the longest ever for a monarch, she finnally subcumed to illness. She had been in a downhill state ever since her husband, Prince Albert, died 7 years ago. She had refused to see anyone and had locked herself away and every time she was seen in public she wore the black of mourning. In a speech outside of 10 downing street, Mr Smith also passed along his regrets at this tragic event. He said that britain must no longer dwell on the past but must push towards a brighter future. Thousands are expected to turn up for her funeral in 2 weeks.

              BRITISH TROOPS TAKE MALMO:

After the stunning success of the british advance to goteburg malmo fell earlier this morning to a combined british and russian effort. Russian battleships with british cruisers bombarded the city while the british cavalry advanced quickly and put down all resistance. A search has been started for a man named, Henrik who is believed to be heading the resistance in this country. may we find him and hang him quickly

              FRANCE WARNED:

France has been sternly warned by britain that any provocation on germany by france will result in a decleration of war between our two nations. And he warned that this is a fight that france cannot win.

                • An uneventful summer in Russia.

London, we have paid you back 350 gold! The rest will come during the next few turns, I expect.

Germans, we kindly ask you, please do not cause inconvenience for our railroad construction program. German freights are presently blocking the way and preventing our workers from doing their jobs in several places.

The siege of Bucharest and Stockholm is going well, and we expect to seize control of both these cities during the next three months. The russian troops looks forward to seizing the rich oilfields of Bucharest to the strengthened russian economy.

                  Turn passer on to Henriko...

BTW, Grothgar, on the next turn I think you can connect the russian possessions on the balkans, on your map. We are presently constructing a railroad between these possessions, and we expect to seize Bucharest shortly without losses.

                  • Rome Daily September 1901

New reforms starting to take effect today!
Italy is now a democratic nation!
The reforms that have been worked out during the latest few months, and which where prommised by our former emperor and newly elected President have finally taken place!
Yesterday the Republic of Italy was anounced and cheering citizens in all parts of Italy ran to vote for thier candidate.
The incredibly popular Henriko (formerly I) Lohmandero, was elected president with 75% of the votes.
The newly elected President earlier today held a long and exteremly gripping speach about the democratic rights of the people and the joys of this new economic system, adopted from the modell used by Brittain, Germany and Russia.
New elections will be held every 4 years!
To make sure that nobody without the peoples confidence may rule our great nation.
With the president was also, besides the people in his new cabinet, a Herr A. Günther Ikopfenstraal and a greek gentleman, whose name wasn't mentioned.
After his speech (which you can find in it's full length on page 18 of this paper) the president went to the opening ceremony held at the newly built Capitol in Rome, there the Brittish Ambassador, Lord Rodbert of Dwarfdale and the Russian Ambassador Boris Gotorptka held the red stripe as the german Ambassador Karl von Stoppenkopf handed President Henriko the scissors, Henriko then cut the stripe with the Rulers of the Ottoman empire and France standing beside him.
All of the ambassadors, as well as the French Premier and the Ottoman Sultan then held speeches in which they congratulated Italy on thier effort to become a free and democratic nation.

The first september has also been declared, a national holiday in Italy.

Enourmus econical growth is expected to be the result of these reforms (which you can read more about in specific on page 8) and economical analists has calculated that the BNP of Italy is going to quadrouple during the next few months...

This event was also special in the meaning that all major powers in europe was represented, only the Spanish ambassador was absent, aparently incapable of comming due to a cold he had aquired in the alps last week.

The President also in his opening speech, proclaimed, on behalf of the nation of Switzerland, that a congress will be held in the city of Geneva soon.
Nobody really knows what is to be discussed there, but the President assured everyone that the primary objective would be "Peace in our time"...
No Fighting here, this is the war room!

                    • Russian construction!

King Abdul SunTzu I has learned of Russian intentions to build a railroad through Turkish territory connecting Serbia with Greece. These plans will not happen since the railroad will go through Turkish territory, and Turkey does not want any foreign roadways in her territory.
So in conclusion the Russian railway project is canceled due to illegal operations of the russian government.

                      • BRITAIN SENDS STARK WARNING TO TURKEY!!!

Britains ambassador in turkey, Sir Frisby of Folpford, was directed to issue an ultimatum to the turkish government in istanbul today by the Prime Minister Gary Smith. We do not know the details of the ultimatum but we are sure it centers on the attempted obstruction of the Balkans Railroad to be joint owned by Britain and Russia. Mr Smith also added outside 10 downing street:

"We must point out to the turkish government that this railroad would be in their best intrests because as it goes through their territory it will increase trade in those villages nearby thus entitaling your economy to grow. It would be foolish to turn down this great oppurtunity and we hope that you will reconsider your opinions. However we intend to see this railroad through with or without your permission, so be wise and accept the best choice given to you."

Mr Smith then retired into 10 downing street with his senior military advisors.

                        • Stern warning to England!

English Ambassador, maybe this project would be allowed if you and your russian friends would've have graced our presence with the idea of building your railroad through our country!
Since you obviously intended on building the railroad without annoucning that you will be building through Turkish territory, you are denied the right to build your railroad through our territory.
                          G'day

                          • President Henriko:

"Italy fully supports her ally and declare that it is against the international laws to start construction projects in the territory of other independent states!

We would think that Brittain and Russia would recognice this as it is also in their own interest to see to it that these international laws are followed!

A formal request will be sent to the Sultan or the construction work will be terminated"

As a peace loving empire britain is prepared to offer 500 gold to the turkish empire with the same amount coming from russia for the rights to build this railroad.
(P.S Russia just pay them with the stuff you would pay me. That debt is cancelled if you comply)

                              • Funny how something can be misunderstood... If the turks reads the russian report closely, they will see that the russian railroad project, was a project to join the russian possessions on the balkans, which naturally means a railroad connecting Bucharest with Serbia...

We have a difficult time understanding, that the woods of romania are supposed to be turkish territory, as we hear it from the turkish emissaries. We see no turkish troops there, and no turkish cities in this area.

However, we do consider a railroad project connecting Serbia with Greece a natural project for the future, to strenghten the already strong bonds between the british and russian democracies. But our engineers have not yet contemplated how to bring this about, and we're sure further funding and diplomatic arrangements are needed beforehand. But hence no immediate project, no immediate need for a diplomatic circus.
