I liked the space colonization idea. I've always imagined a scen where you start out on earth and then colonize the solar system and then beyond. Maybe even running into some aliens
Edit: But, like someone already mentioned, the AI doesn't handle these maps well."Peace cannot be kept by force.
It can only be achieved by understanding"

Has there ever been a collaborative scenario?
So some people here would create the units, others the terrain, others the tech tree, events, etc. Then they would post their efforts and everyone wouldargue aboutdiscuss the implications and how it would add to the game.
Only trouble would be that not that many people here would play it because they'd already know it inside out...
Oh, and I can only do the text, but given the numbers of skilled artists here, that won't be a problem.

This is a great idea, and I would lend a unit or two to its creation. Please put Asher on your ignore list.
Please do not quote Asher.
He will go away if we ignore him.

If we can find another couple of people who are interested then it'd be worth opening a new thread (ideally with a poll for where the scenario would be set) to discuss it further.
I'm not sure if democracy games are still played for Civ, but I had some part in setting up the first on CFC, and it showed that too many cooks can still make a fun, playable broth.

I have always thought a collaborative scenario would be fun, however at the end of the day one person has to be in control and will have to put in the hard work on the save file. When you think about it, most of the scenarios created here over the years have been done this way. Its not uncommon for one person to have created a new map, another to provide the units, another to provide the terrain, icons, cities etc... Then the scenario author will make use of other peoples utility programs, guides and etc... Also as most scenarios are discussed in a thread a lot of people have an input and add ideas and finally come the playtesters. So you can see that a scenario is generally a community project anyway!
By all means start up a thread for your project. You don't have to ask for permission, the Scenario League is a free for all The moderators are the only ones who can make a thread a sticky. Generally only community info is made a sticky. If your project is popular (IE people keep posting stuff) it will stay at the top of the thread. If interest wains it will eventually disapear off the bottom of the page to be consigned to the SL ideas graveyard. Its fate is in your hands Ravlon!

I realise that's how the community works, but thought that it would be fun if we could all work together on something for once. Besides, it may be done a lot quicker if everyone is responsible for only their own area.
What do the other skilled creators here think?
Good luck with your project Ravlon.
