In each case, for a WW2 scenario San Marino in my eyes would be a definitely no-no. If here a city must be placed, I would take Ancona. That town in that time at least had a shipyard for warships: The "Cantieri Navali Riuniti S.A".

Now that I look into it, Ancona is a far more logical choice.

Working on a new set of Unit stats today, as I discovered the infamous 'AI build list bug' was present!

So what I will do is list all Units and give them stats that are variations on the standard CIV2 data.

I have found that if units have stats that more or less add up to the same value, the AI will build them.

That and more useful info in this bug is found in this useful page by Mike Daumen.

These old S.L. guides are still world class. In my eyes there was nothing equal to them in quality for Civ 3 and Civ 4.

Do you have some new screenes, for example about North-Africa?

                  Very nice.

Edited: But somehow the Italian cities don´t fit too well to the desert.

Problem is that because Italian cities also have European surrounds, I had to make a compromise.

But later on, it might be possible to allocate a specific city set for the Italian Empire.

Another thing I noticed when looking on your screenes, is the number of population of the cities. I know this is somewhat tricky when doing a scenario in Civ 2 (as it is in Civ 3, too).

For example Königsberg has a population size of 7 and Warsaw a population size of 8. Of course a lot can happen in that scenario before this screene was done. But in 1938/ 1939 Warsaw had 1.289.000 inhabitants (in 1942/43 1.266.000 inhabitants) and Königsberg in 1939 had 372.000 inhabitants).

As I´m working in a team that does nearly the same scenario for Civ 3 (so we start in 1939) I look on your Civ 2 project with a special interest. At present I revise the city sizes of our Civ 3 scenario (Storm over Europe or SOE). It was astonishing how much oversized our British overseas cities were compared to the real numbers and how undersized some US cities were on our map.

Here is a link to a site with tons of historic city sizes (even for WW2), that I use. May be this can be a help for you too:

                        Nice one!

That will definitely be useful - And when the playtest version is out, I know
I have someone who is clued up on city sizes that I can turn to for advice!

                        Cheers, BL!

Blue Lion, in that site, are the populations to calculated by the region area?

                          PS
Gave Warsaw size 15, and Konigsberg size 8, much better!
I would indeed like to stick with as much realism as I can.

But as you know CIV2 and realism do depart from each other at times...

This site often shows both : The numbers for the city and often in a special column the numbers for the area
                            (agglomeration).

For Civ 3 (combined with the no-raze-patch) I thought the following scheme could be useful for WW2 city-sizes on a European/North African/US-East-Coast-theatre:

Population points (pp) / (Inh. = inhabitants):

                            1- 200.000 : 1 pp for each 20.000 inh.
                            (so 200.000 is 10 pp)

                            200.000-500.000: 10 pp + 1 pp for each 50.000 inh.
                            (so 500.000 = 10+6 =16)

                            500.000-1.000.000: 16pp + 1pp for each add. 100.000
                            (so 1.000.000 = 16+5 = 21)

                            1.000.000 - infinite: 21pp + 1 pp for each 500.000 inh.
                            (so 8.000.000 = 21+14 = 35)

Of course for Civ 2 such a list must be done according to the decisive factors in Civ 2.

                              Now the big question?

Perhaps you would be up for helping me get the major cities in my Scen file set to the correct size?

This might involve you providing figures of WW2 city populations, and I do the city edits.

If you are too busy, that is not a problem.

This shouldn´t be a too big problem, as I currently adjusted 512 cities in that scenario aera. Please give me a list with the cities you need for each country.
