    I suggest starting around 1520, with the Spanish having already established settlements in Cuba and Hispaniola, and also having already reconnoitered the Yucatan peninsula. The hard nosed viceroy of Cuba by this time would no doubt be happy to excoriate himself the the itinerant oros lusting conquistadores squatting in Havana (they were unemployed soldiers after all) The other Europeans could start off with a caravel, an explorer (a spy) and perhaps few trappers or native scouts something. Colonists and military reinforcements could arrive later in the Atlantic via events, perhaps triggered by research. Ending the scenario in 1650 would be cutting it a bit short IMO. Things were just getting interesting by that time, I think you try to take it all the way to 1775

    Even though it only took Cortez two or three years to seize Tenochtitlan, the Aztecs fought on for another 50 or so years. I think the conquest of Mexico proper was a very gradual process that took the Spanish almost 200 years to complete. So the Aztecs should still make a interesting choice for a civilization, the once great empire now a shadow of its former self making shrewd alliances, fighting a desperate guerrilla war against the Spanish and trying to reclaim their ancestral land! Sounds like fun to me... I think that the Sioux/Comanche would make a better choice than the Portuguese because the latter was historically constrained to settle outside the area of the map by a papal bull and the treaty of Tordesillas. Btw, I think its a good choice to use your AWI map, but I would suggest cutting out some of the Atlantic ocean this time around. That big ocean just gives too much space for the AI to get lost in

      I would love to play the Aztecs, and try to hurt the Spanish freebooters as much as possible!

        Thanks all for the contributions about this scenario project. I´ve thought about it and I´m now ready for the project.

        The scenario will begin in 1520 and end 1770. My AWI scenario will be a continue of the conquest scenario.
        Four European Nations and three Native tribes will be playable.

        More will be following...

        @EZRhino:
        I´ve cutted the ocean off from my map.
