    one of the options I didn't exclude about that ...

      No, but Swedes, Poles/Saxons, Danes/Norwegians, Cossacks, Turks/Tatars, Germans and Russians are!

        Peter.mp = Peter the great = Great Northern War from the Russian pow. Which I don't like since they kicked our Swedish butts.

              That's one thought I was having too, but shouldn't Onega be frozen as well then?

              While I'm at it then... The Polish coast (and Gulf of Finalnd) look rather straight. I'm sure it's accurate, but perhaps you could trade a little accuracy to make the map look more natural (i.e. less straight).

              Excellent map otherwise.

                    Yeah, Poltava is in Ukraine. the Swedes were halted before Smolensk (going for Moscow of course) and then they decided to make camp for the winter in Ukraine (bad mistake). On the way north to Moscow yet again they "crossed" Poltava.

                                @Turno
                                I have not seen this Osprey book before. The cover pic is really cool. I really like the sound of this scenario!

                                @Micheal
                                The map looks amazing!!! I really like the unusual angle. I have seen contemporary Russian maps before from similar angles. Makes for a more interesting game.
                                I have a fair bit of info about this period and some excellent maps which I will scan for you when/if I get my scanners working again (will try now!). It will be a good excuse to read up on a new period of history that I am not too farmiliar with
