    • Is this events sufficient to stop the Austrians (for example) from declaring war or making peace?

      • PLAYTESTER NEEDED!

OK, I have got the game into a playable version. There is still a lot of work to do but the graphics, units, map etc are all ready. What I really need is a playtester to have a go and give me some feedback. Not only will this test for bugs and highlight what events are needed but it will also help motivate me. It is a bit lonely working on something in isolation and having someone to bounce ideas off would be great help.

        Volunteers take one step forward!

          • I intended to make the Greek version first so that is good. I will send you the files this evening. I don't expect an in depth test, just wanted someone to share ideas with who has seen the game.

              • I played a few turns as Greece. Conquering two cities in 4 turns was not difficult the first time i played (losing probably a lot of units though, which might make it impossible to drive on).
I noticed that Turkey also had a dreadnaught-type ship; not sure if that was so, but it would lead to a hunt for Bismarck situation

I will post more when i have played again.

                • One thing I have learned from testing is that attacking barbed wire is a good way of getting veteran troops.
There are a lot of units at the beggining of the game and so far I think the stats are about right. I wanted attacks to be costly affairs. Repairing damaged units should be a priority. I think all of the initial Greek objectives are reachable. Constantinople and Smyrna may be a different story, especiall once I have added some events.

I have also decided to make the Greek navy veterans while the Turks are non-veteran. this should make the ballance more realistic while still being a challenge. I will need to check about the Ottoman Dreadnaughts. I think they did have some old coastal battleships and armoured cruisers. Don't want to make things too easy for the Greek navy!

The next thing I need to do is the tech tree which will be closely linked with the events. As there was not too much in the way of technological development in this short period I have decided to use the tech tree to trigger events. If anyone has any good tips or tricks then please let me know.

Once the tech tree and events are completed I should be ready for a general beta test. Testing is not my favorite part of the design process so I am inching forward at the moment. It all seems to be hanging together well so far though

                  • Varwnos, have you had a chance to do any more playtesting?
If so I would appreciate any feedback you have. I have made some alterations and additions since the last version I sent you. If you want I can send the latest files.

If you have not had time yet then don't worry, I have plenty of other projects, enough to keep me going until Christmas

                    • I am a bit concerned that your birch tree icon [Forest?] may be inappropriate. I believe that it is the icon used in Red Front for bereza, the Russian birch forest.

Varwnos may correct me on this, but I'm virtually certain that birch forests are not native to Greece. There may be some birch at higher elevations in the mixed forests in the rest of the Balkans, but they certainly are not very numerous compared to other species.

I think that your best bet may be an icon of decidous forest, possibly with some conifers.

                        • When editing a scenario is there a way of building a wonder that shows as 'LOST' in the list of wonders?

If not then what improvements would give the same effect as King Richard's Crusade?

If you build the wonder in a city and after that you delete the city, the wonder is lost. You will see it in the wonders of the world list.
