No argument.
That's almost a challenge! The only way I could hope to pull it off would be to split the air/land/sea campaigns into separate maps, and use land terrain for 'sea' on one of them. Still its major-league work, and I'm feeling like being just a little more conventional. For the same reason, I'm leaning away from some of the other longer shots.

Okay, I'm narrowing down the list. Since someone else is interested in "Downfall", I'm leaning toward three choices:

Burma 42-45, as the Allies facing a crushing offensive until they can turn it around. Chindits, Marauders, Chinese, building the Ledo road (i.e. trade), and river crossings would play a role. Geography would be a big factor. I'm really sorry Agricola, but this is as close to a Red Front as I'm willing to try.
Diadochi. The player starts as Alexander himself, who dies in a somewhat random manner. Then he'll play as Seleucus, who was a long shot at first, but eventually became a biggie. With Indians, Romans, Carthaginians, along with trustworthy Successors, this would be as close to a classic empire builder as I could get, but with a few odd Bocoisms. It's been a while since I read up on this, so I'd need some help with the history.
Alesia. This'd be a tactical toughie. As the Romans, you'd have the freedom of placing your forts (yeah, I got that from the hex game), which would be cities that build darts and boulders to weaken Gauls on the outerworks. The Gauls, who'd outnumber the Romans to the degree that the ever self-effacing Caesar records, would mount an attack designed to make the Romans scramble desperately. Eventually, this one would probably involve ALT files.
If you feel strongly about any of these, post away!

Personally, I'd like to see you do Burma. I've always found the Pacific Theatre of WW2 one of my favorite all-out war periods (hence EotRS and my request on your PM), but I think if you do can Burma with the same detail and intricacy you did El Aurens, that'd be stellar, to say the least. You could even reuse EA's Gurkhas.

I am for the diadochi too. Don't forget Alex's murderous lunatic mother, his legitimate & illegitimate offsprings, various wives & concubines, his fathers wives and "affairs", his own ****** and/or epileptic half-brother married to his half-sister etc. all murdering each other in the end. Except for Ptolemy, who probably was Alex's illegitimate older brother as well. And looked a lot more like Philip than Alex, to boot...
Alesia sounds nice too, how are you going to recreate the ring fortifications rush though, especially the external one?
WWII scenarios look more or less the same to me after all these years. Jungle warfare though...

Burma 42-45 would work really well within Civ IMO and gets my vote. But then again, I'm a sucker for 20th century scenarios

                All three sound appealing!

I would still like to see Burma first as I love the 'Forgotten army' idea and I am into jungle warfare at the moment so I could give you some tips from my Nam experiences!

Second would be Alexander. I really like the idea of the succesor states fighting it out for dominance with Phalanxes and Heavy Cavalry + a few Elephants!

Alesia sounds very interesting too but would be my third choice.

Right now, it's between Diadochi and Alesia. Both would be great fun.

                  For Alesia, here's an idea:

You could turn it into a kind of builder. Have Caesar and his troops arrive on site. In a message we learn that Gaulish tribes will be coming to attack him. These attacks would come on random turns AFTER an initial peaceful period to allow for Caesar to build up his fortifications.

Where are the Gauls? Masses of Gauls will be hiding behind impassable terrain. A series of random turn events would change the impassable terrain to passable, and the avenging hordes would be unleased.

And use could also be made of randomly created units to have Gauls attack from all types of directions.

Caesar was caught between two Gaulish armies. Caesar was facing Vercingetorix who was being besiged in Alesia, while the relieving Gaulish armies were attacking Caesar's back.

Another interesting period that would make a great scenario (and not in the poll) would be Rome's Social and Civil War period - circa 132 BC to 30 BC.

This was a period that saw : Marius, Sulla, Crassus, Pompey the Great, Caesar, Antony, Octavian, the great Spartacus Slave Revolt, the 1000 ship Pirate Wars, the several Mithridatic Wars, etc....

This was a period of internal warfare within the Roman Republic when great generals led their armies against each other.

Play one of the leading characters and lead your armies for control of Rome itself....

                        Roman Republican Civil Wars

There were several Roman civil wars, especially during the time of the late Republic. They were:

                        * First Servile War (135–132 BC), between Rome and a slave insurrection on Sicily - Roman victory.

                        * Second Servile War (104–103 BC), between Rome and a slave insurrection on Sicily - Roman victory.

                        * Social War (91–88 BC), between Rome and the Italian nations - Roman victory.

                        * Sulla's first civil war (88–87 BC), between Lucius Cornelius Sulla's supporters and Gaius Marius' forces - Marian victory.

                        * Sertorius' revolt in Hispania (83–72 BC), between Rome and the provinces of Hispania under the leadership of Sertorius - Roman victory.

                        * Sulla's second civil war (82–81 BC), between Sulla and Marius' supporters - Sullan victory.

                        * Third Servile War (73–71 BC), between Rome and a slave insurrection in Italy led by Spartacus - Roman victory.

                        * Catiline Conspiracy (63–62 BC), between the Senate and the dissatisfied followers of Lucius Sergius Catilina - Senatorial victory.

                        * Caesar's civil war (49–45 BC), between Julius Caesar and the optimates (conservative republicans), initially led by Pompey - Caesarean victory.

                        * Post-Caesarian civil war (44 BC), between the Senate army (led first by Cicero and then by Octavian) and the army of Antony, Lepidus, and their colleagues - Truce results in union of forces.

                        * Liberators' civil war (44–42 BC), between the Second Triumvirate and the Liberators (Brutus and Cassius, Caesar's assassins) - Triumvirate victory.

                        * Sicilian revolt (44–36 BC), between the Second Triumvirate (particularly Octavian and Agrippa) and Sextus Pompeius, the son of Pompey - Triumvirate victory.

                        * Fulvia's civil war (41–40 BC), between the forces of Lucius Antonius and Fulvia Antonia (the younger brother and wife of Mark Antony) and Octavian - Octavian victory.

                        * Final war of the Roman Republic (32–30 BC), between the Western provinces (under the leadership of Octavian and Agrippa) and the East (under Mark Antony and Cleopatra) - Western victory.

Given the number of existing and new scenarios ranging from 300-30 BC by masters of the craft, I'm becoming hesitant about the Diadochi. Burma is still a relatively untouched topic.
