I would have to agree with Eiving on those points. There is likely to be several times the number of WWII scenarios than any other era.

Also Napoleonic would not be consistent with the other eras as it is too specific to one figure and to me would not cover say the whole period of 1700 - 1850.

Then again I am not going to do the hard work so maybe I should shut up

Watt's steam engine would be a much better start point for the industrial revolution; Britain was well underway with Industrialisation by the 19th C.

In any case, the first useable IC engine wasn't until Benz produced his 2-stroke in 1870-something, and Daimler his 4-stroke around the same time.

Ok, you've almost swayed me! Just please make the ww2 section run from 1919-1945, and you won't hear more complaints from me!

Eivind (the trouble maker that he is) made a valid point earlier. While the steam engine was patented much earlier, there was no immediate economic impact until the early-nineteenth century when sail power went out of vogue and practical industrial machinery led to mass production.

Not so (sorry to be a trouble-maker like Eivind LOL) - The foundations of the Industrial Revolution in Britain were iron, coal and steam. The economic impact of the steam engine pretty shortly after it's invention were enormous - steam-powered mine pumps and factory machinery.

Indeed! Inventing the train was the big turning point.

Oh no, now we'll have to consider 1804 or 1925 if you bring steam trains into it

Seriously though, Britain's industrialisation was well underway well before the steam train, with canals providing transport.

                      Dear All,

I have started updating the website already.

Things will look funny for a while while I start migrating everything.

The will be a MGE / TOT category as well and Civ2 Historical Scenarios will eventually be defunct. I'm keepin the Fictional Section but it had to be emptied first. As your scenario gets moved to the proper era, it will disappear from the main list. Don't be alarmed.

I have to go to every single page and manually change the category identities so it will take time. I suggest you hold off on uploading anything right now, I should be done in about a week or two.

                      ...so far 14 moved.

Are we ditching the page/list with the cool little unit icons?

A very good point, canals were the very lifeblood of the UK in that era.

You'd need me to upgrade from MediaWiki 1.4 to 1.9. You don't need me to edit the wiki.

I don't have very much free time right now. I am living with my wonderful gf/lifepartnerthingie, working full time at IBM, and planning to finish my fourth year of CS at UofT. Life's quite hectic, and I am trying to balance a LOT of things in my leisure time. Cheers.

No Ditching it, just breaking it up into smaller collections with the icons retained.

There will still be a Wiki generated master MGE list and Master TOT list without icons.

Had a gander at the SL wiki, and it is looking good, Koby!
I like the medium tab too, it fits well in the wiki mechanism.

Means that people can browse for scenarios that belong solely
to a specific version...Nice move! It seems like a cool system.

We should make the links on the categories more prominent.
A nice graphic on the main scenario menu would be cool too.
